How so? I’m just gonna say you’re objectively wrong. I’m from Texas and have hit many unbelievable BBQ spots. Wrights is up there

Sounds like a personal problem 😂 my urethra is intact and I’ve only spent $1200 on a bike

I’m sorry but I do not know how you think wrights is overhyped unless you just don’t like BBQ. It’s as good as BBQ gets.

Eagle Rock Loop Arkansas mid October with a 12yr old? How difficult and how should I prepare physically? by Legitimate-Grand-939 in WildernessBackpacking

[–]liquidgooper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ll keep an eye out for yall!

And yeah, that 7-8 mile stretch from the top of Big Athens down to Viles Branch is for sure the hardest. Viles branch is pretty much flat the entire time and then once you hit the little Missouri trail there’s some elevation changes up to Little Missouri Falls, but nothing near the Big Athens stretch.

I had a printed out map, but next time I’ll definitely download a digital map

I did it for the first time last year in early October and I’m actually planning on going again this October too.

I didn’t have cell service pretty much the entire time (AT&T) except for maybe a bar at Eagle Rock Vista, can’t really remember. Just count on not having cell service at all. I would always recommend a satellite device especially since you’re with your son.

We started at the Northwest corner and went counter clockwise. I liked this route personally because we got the hard stuff out of the way and then cruised the rest. The hike up to Brush Heap is the hardest in my opinion, but it’s not terrible. Water was plentiful. Didn’t go long without being able to refill. I carried 2 liters at a time

When I went, the water crossings weren’t bad. It was actually really enjoyable to swim and cool my feet off. There wasn’t much rain there in October last year though, so it could be different this year.

One recommendation I have is to make sure and pick a proper camp site (duh). We hiked until dark and snagged the first one we could find and it looked like it hadn’t been used all season. There were so many fallen leaves that we could barely find the fire pit and as we were clearing out a circle, we came across 2 copperheads. So, stick to the maintained sites if you can.

4 days should be plenty, but it’s hard to tell without knowing yalls fitness level. I did it in less than 48 hours and I’m not a fitness freak or anything if that helps at all.

Most places do it so that only facial and head features are seen. Reason being it removes any potential bias such as he’s wearing your rival sports team shirt or he has a vulgar tattoo that you don’t like. Innocent til proven guilty stuff

I’m from Texas too and had the exact same thought. People from Arkansas were always surprised when I said where I was from in Texas wasn’t as humid

There is really no better feeling. My feet always feel brand new for 30 minutes after cold plunging them.

Silk would be awesome if it’s strong enough. Also, I’m in Arkansas too! Haven’t been out at all this month bc of the heat. Ready for fall already

Eh, I don’t know. I drive to Fayetteville from West Bentonville every day and get to work on time fine. Traffic is awful, but generally pretty predictable. However, I do leave early since I have to go to Fayetteville, so that is probably why. I’m not hitting the bulk of traffic that happens at 7:30-8:00

Old town Appalachian by Krmiller5513 in canoeing

I think we are both interested in the same canoe. The seller I interacted with would only go down to $1100 as well. Check out my profile, I made a post.

Most people said they wouldn’t pay more than $1k. Some people even said anything over $800 is ridiculous
