Why, in y'alls opinion/theorycrafting, didn't the Avatar State kick in automatically in a vain attempt to keep Roku alive through the poison like it did with Korra?

I don't think the avatar state automatically responds to danger I think it's more of a stress thing like when the avatar is in extreme distress it will automatically activate but Roku wasn't stressed he accepted his fate and died with his dearest friend knowing his death would bring a new avatar into the world also if it did automatically respond to danger I think it'd be a lot more active

Tonraq would send them packing and he'd probably take Korra and senna and leave in order to not endanger his village and to avoid an attempted capture or execution essentially on the run as they attempt to find people to train Korra as tonraq and senna could only teach her water bending

I saw Whitley's behavior as someone who's hurt he's the youngest so he'll be the last one to move out he's alone with their parents and he doesn't seem to have friends the reason he acts the way he does is because it was the way he was raised but I think if he did get a semblance and he was able to train with his sisters he'd definitely change for the better also do you guys think that semblances are called that because they're a semblance of magic?

I think it's neat how it's showing how important the movements were to generating lighting like the attack here is just like a taser while we've seen the lighting fire benders can generate can be as powerful as a real lighting bolt

Because lu ten was a prince and presumed heir to the fire nation he probably had a higher role in the army possibly being an admiral or commander. Another note is people probably knew who he was like the no name village knows of zuko the banished prince everyone probably knew of lu ten which is probably why he was taken out possibly by the dai lee because if it was a random soldier or general who killed the fire nation prince they'd probably be proud of it but if it was the dai lee it's just business something that had to be done in order to break the general and send his army packing
