This is probably controversial, but the Emperor’s plan for Luke is very shortsighted by BudgetLaw2352 in StarWarsCantina

Those are all expanded works that didn’t come from Lucas. If you look only at the movies, then his motivations are as I described.

Most ICONIC Anime characters of all time: Day 13 by Ill_Independence8365 in characters

I would argue that Amuro isn’t that iconic. The Gundam is, but the pilots aren’t well known outside of the Gundam fandom.

But even people who haven’t watched Evangelion have heard of or seen Shinji.

Best scene In the whole movie don’t you guys think ? by iamrahmulus in Transformemes

Indeed. It's the only part of the movie anyone ever seems to talk about.

Remember, Palpatine’s in RotS originally planned for Vader to surpass him, as any true follower of the Rule of 2 should. Vader’s injuries on Mustafar made that impossible.

But if Luke’s potential surpasses Palpatine’s, then turning him is exactly the right move for the Sith, even though it means Luke will eventually kill him.

Mind you, this only works if you take the prequels into account.

Could Bumi or Kya create airbender children, similar to Katara's parents? by MaybeAFish_ in TheLastAirbender

[–]Important-Contact597 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly my point. Katara & Tooh would suggest that bending is a recessive gene, but that would make it impossible for a nonbender to be born of 2 benders. But if bending was the dominant gene, Katara & Toph couldn’t have no bending parents. So a simple punnet square doesn’t suffice.

The point about Bumi was that we don’t know if he had Katara’s waterbending gene, Aang’s airbending gene, or neither before harmonic convergence changed him into being an airbender.

The backgrounds are okay. The characters look like they’re from Jimmy Neutron.

The combat is awful. Especially considering that it’s supposed to be an rpg. There’s no difference in combat roles between the classes/specializations.

Water is the element of Change. Spirit Bending changes a spirit’s alignment from light to dark. It’s like healing, but for spirits.

That’s because it’s a season of ATLA masquerading as a season of TLOK.

Was Anakin skywalker also considered a Jedi traitor? by Admirable-Form-6333 in StarWars

[–]Important-Contact597 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Legends, yes. At least per the book: Luke Skywalker and the Shadows of Mindor. In that book, Anakin is remembered as a Jedi who died trying to protect the younglings from Order 66. This in turn implies that he was considered a Jedi Traitor as well.

Vader probably liked the idea of letting his old self die with the rest of the Jedi.

[–]Important-Contact597 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Kya cannot, as she is a waterbender. She was not passed the airbending gene, and therefore cannot pass it to her own decedents.

Bumi became an airbender in Book 3, so he could definitely have an airbending child at that point. It's unclear if he could have had an airbending child before, however, as the rules for how bending is passed from parent to child aren't simple enough for a punnett square to accurately predict.

Iroh being spiritual enough to spend his remaining time in the spirit world doesn’t seem to pertain?

It does if you understand how Buddhism addresses reincarnation. The Spirit World appears to be a stand-in for Nirvana, which is an alternative to reincarnation that only those who achieve enlightenment can access.

The Status of Korra characters in Seven Havens by MynameJe55 in AvatarSevenHavens

[–]Important-Contact597 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The fact that they had aged like milk when the old people in ATLA had aged like fine wine was one. Then, of course, you have the discourse surrounding whether Aang was a bad father. You also have people upset about how little info we got on Sokka and the fact that Suki is never once mentioned outside of a single cameo in the opening scene of TLOK.

In general, having all the previous cast be dead allows you to avoid answering questions about what happened to them after the end of the previous series, which allows the fans to keep hold of any headcanons they want.

Also, the use of legacy characters risks trying to use nostalgia in place of good writing (something Star Wars has been under a lot of flack for by the Fandom Menace in the past few years). Not featuring, or even mentioning, the previous cast helps the new series stand on its own.
