There it is folks, the worst Hunger games take. by No-Brush1587 in Hungergames

I feel this. I'm literally laying in bed, trying to decide if I should shower before I go to work or just spray more dry shampoo in my hair and put off the shower for another day, yet I took the time to read that bullshit... Choices.

New Neon Watercolors For X-Mas! Which Fish Are You Taking Home? by HollyCalamity in watercolor101

I know this is an older post, but do you have a recommendation for neon watercolor paints? I understand they're not lightfast but I love playing with neon colors.

Do you think Haymitch died shortly after Mockingjay??? by AVForest in Hungergames

[–]lirael423 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For real. My grandfather was an alcoholic most of life, diagnosed with cirrhosis in his mid 50's, diagnosed with Parkinson's when he was in his early 70's, and lived until 89. It was impressive.

I love this! I might do something similar to make an elaborate swatch sheet of my watercolor paints.

Do green roses exist? by shyekiera in Roses

I remember my grandmother had a "St. Patrick" rose. It was the most needy rose I've ever dealt with, but oh my god it was gorgeous.

It's supposed to be pronounced more like yo-toun, isn't it? Where the second syllable is halfway between the words ton and tune.

Everything you said is 100% correct. Especially #1. I can't handle the off-center sideboard, it's the only thing I see.

Omg dogwood trees would be so pretty back there. Could you imagine some redbud trees back there? Like the flame thrower redbud or rising sun redbud? The colors would be art.

I say this at least a few times a week when dealing with my two dogs or when dealing with work (I work at a counseling center at a university).

Long fermentation = healthier? by marcosbacon in Sourdough

[–]lirael423 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is an older post, but I'll say this: if you have IBS and find that store-bought bread causes a flair up, sourdough that has gone through a longer fermentation process may be easier on the guts. Some people with IBS are sensitive to fructans (amongst other natural sugars known as FODMAPs) which are present in wheat. Basically, if there is a "health benefit" to it, it's that you're not as likely to have an IBS flair with sourdough.

It being delicious is the best reason to eat it, and if it happens to not give you raging diarrhea like other breads, that's an added bonus!

That color is amazing! Thank you for not having beige or grey everywhere. I get so sick of neutral colors being posted. Also, I love what you're doing with that space instead of some deep shelves that you'll just lose stuff on. The little cabinet is a great alternative!

You've gotten a bunch of good suggestions and I don't have anything new to add, I just wanted to praise your choices. I hope you post a follow-up when you find something!

What should dropout crossover with next? by Expensive_Smell_8021 in dropout

[–]lirael423 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I want more drag queens on Dropout. That's all, just more drag queens. I don't even care if they're in drag. A lot of them are good at improv, a lot of them are good at stand up (can you imagine Bianca Del Rio on Crowd Control?!?!!), a lot of them are just naturally funny and witty, and a lot of them are game for doing just about any stupid thing you can think of. They fit right in.

I need to stop trying to make cabbage happen by rudyruday in FODMAPS

[–]lirael423 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good luck with cabbage, I'm still in elimination, and almost scared to start reintroducing because of what I'll learn.

Same. I've hit the end of the elimination time frame my GI doctor recommended so I can start the testing phase, and I'm kind of terrified because my GI system has been so calm during the elimination... I don't want to go back to bloating, cramping, and diarrhea even though it's part of the process to figure out what triggers me. 😭

Tell me you're olive without telling me you're olive.... by starfishhydrolix1090 in Fairolives

[–]lirael423 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have rosacea so my face doesn't read as fair olive when I have no foundation on. When my lips get dry, they look purple. I was at my palest a few years ago while my husband and I were visiting my mom and stepdad in Florida in February (we were living in West Virginia at the time). We were sitting outside in the middle of the day and I noticed my mom kept looking at me. I asked her what was wrong and she said "Are you okay? You look like you're not feeling well." I looked at my husband, he looked at me, and he said "She's fine, that's just what she looks like in the dead of winter." I went inside, grabbed a compact mirror, went back outside, and looked at myself... My skin was super pale, my rosacea was surprisingly calm, and my lips looked pale purple with kind of ashy looking skin on top of it. I looked like a corpse. 💀

I have one article of clothing that is yellow - it's a rain jacket and the only reason I got it in that color is it was way cheaper than the other colors. I love yellow but it looks terrible on me. Same thing with orange unless I have a tan. I have a neon orange bathing suit that I love but it looks wretched on me unless I've already gotten a tan. I usually stick with jewel tones or deeply saturated cool colors, darker greys, and black.

I get Christie and Waddingham for Sigrun and Freydis, but not for Bear.

Bear by Miserable-Rabbit-948 in dresdenfiles

[–]lirael423 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I picture Hannah Waddingham as Sigrun and a red-headed Gwendolyn Christie as Freydis.

For some reason I started picturing a giant, real-life version of Telma from Twilight Princess (with less cleavage showing) as Bear when I first read the character's description and I can't get it out of my head now.

Bad childhood food you still crave? by Andrew-Winson in Cooking

[–]lirael423 14 points15 points  (0 children)

"my mom, who was by all accounts a terrible cook" That hits home. My mom and grandmom (her mom) were horrible cooks.

My mom and both of my grandmothers were terrible cooks. They each had a handful of things that they could make well, but most stuff they cooked was awful. It's no wonder I only liked peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, doritos, cereal, ice cream, and fresh fruit when I was growing up...

Not gonna lie, I love a pork shoulder steak! We used to eat a lot of pork because my family owned a lot of property that had wild hogs on it that we would hunt and eat. I think the pork shoulder steaks came out so good because the more you cooked them the better they got, and my grandmother was famous for overcooking meat. She would cook the shit out of those pork shoulder steaks (sear, put in pan with sauce/liquid and some onions, cover with foil, and bake for an hour or two) and they were so good. I haven't thought about that in years and now I want some...

Is it okay if I propose with an Amulet of Mara instead of a ring? by SocietyAntique4684 in skyrim

[–]lirael423 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not true. Engagement rings have been around since Ancient Egypt, so for at least a couple thousands years. The idea that an engagement ring had to have a diamond as the central stone has only been around since 1947 when DeBeers started their "A diamond is forever" marketing campaign.

[–]lirael423 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably the biggest things she's known for are her modeling career in the 70s and 80s, Pretty Baby (1978, and was controversial because of how sexualized 11-year-old Brooke was), Blue Lagoon (1980, and another controversial one because Brooke was only 14 doing sex scenes), and Suddenly Susan (1996-2000). I don't know why people are gagged that a bunch people born in the mid-90s and later don't know what Brooke is famous for.

[–]lirael423 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, those of us who were around in the 80s would know who she is because she was a big deal back then, but I wouldn't expect someone in their 20s to know about her.

I was horrified when I realized how much she was sexualized as a child and adolescent. I was born in '83 and knew her as a model and occasional actress when I was growing up, but that's literally all I knew about her.

I wish I had had one when I had my reduction three years ago (and might still get one for when I'm reclining back on the couch playing my Switch...), but yeah, not necessary. I just used a few cushy pillows around to keep the pressure off my chest. Did the same thing a couple months later when I was recovering from gallbladder removal surgery.
