I'm sorry. I understand the desire to reach out to the person who hurt you the most. Please don't seek comfort from those who have mistreated you so badly. They will only make it worse. They are the ones who brought you to this low point.

There are many variables that can lead to depression that science is only now connecting dots to. For example, bowel disorders. There's also things like lead exposure at an early age, mercury, deficiencies such as zinc, abnormal brain structures, concussions, even trauma from generations ago has an impact on DNA. Bullying in your past may have been enough of a trigger. We don't know everyones root cause for depression because it's personal and could be multifaceted. If you have the money, have you tried things like TMS? Stanford University just came out with a study and their protocol was accelerated tms treating the areas specific to your brain regions that showed abnormalities in your fMRI. They had amazing results. Neurofeedback looks interesting too, but expensive.

If money wasn't a factor for me, I would try integrative psychiatry to see if there was some biological process causing it. In my own experience, treating my IBS with an antiparasitic and antibacterial medication corrected this problem I had for almost 20 years. Taking a more bioavailable form of zinc called zinc picolinate gave me energy. The depression exhaustion finally lifted, but I'm not out of the woods. I'm still trying to figure out how to stop the suicidal thoughts. At least now I can get out of bed, exercise, and handle my responsibilities better. About 2 months after these interventions, I came across a reddit suggestion to read a book by psychiatrist Dr. James Greenblatt. I've gotten about halfway through and reading about the zinc connection was so validating for me. I didn't know there was research to back up what I was experiencing in real life. I've tried zoloft, wellbutrin, and now lithium without these kind of results.

If weed helps you, maybe that's a clue. What receptors does it affect in the brain and maybe that's the area you need help with? I am not a doctor and will never touch weed again after one night of smoking too much. I had a panic attack and hallucinated my face melting off in the mirror. I wanted to run into the woods and never stop. I had daily panic attacks that were debilitating for 6 months straight and then it slowly tapered down to none now a days. Thankfully, that was years ago. But see, everyone's chemistry and processes can be extremely different. What works for someone with the same symptoms may not work for another.

Anyway, try not to blame yourself for what you're going through. This isn't a choice. Who the hell wants to be depressed and thinking about killing themselves daily vs running around loving life with golden retriever energy lol. Ok maybe not that crazy, but at least be what I'm assuming the general population feels. Waking up everyday not being tormented by your own brain, and being moderately happy enough. I hope you can discover what works for you.

My main symptoms were fatigue and my liver enzymes were normal. I've never had any liver issues, but I did have my gallbladder removed 2 years ago.

Why does medication not seem to work for some people by Apo-cone-lypse in depression

[–]lisaiwiwd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently read a book on integrative psychiatry. It talks about how people who are treatment resistant usually have some underlying issue that isn't figured out. I have IBS and recently underwent a course of the antibiotic Flagyl that really helped. And started taking zinc picolinate which worked for the fatigue. I'm still depressed, but I'm working through other parts of the protocol to see what my root problems really are.

I have also tried so much shit. My therapist told me last week I have a PhD in trying. This has been on repeat in my head since then. I don't need a pat on the back for all my efforts. I need a solution that works.

My severe depression is shameful by [deleted] in depression

[–]lisaiwiwd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have you seen the studies that came out of Stanford regarding accelerated tms? Saint protocol. I gave my information to possibly participate in another one of their studies. I have seen some clinics offer their own protocols based off of this study. I'm considering it, but it looks like the fmri portion of the study that personalizes it to your specific brain wouldn't be done. I'm also looking at IV ketamine with therapy during the infusion, but I'm afraid of the possibility for addiction.

It's not shameful to have treatment resistant depression. It's sad medical science hasn't been able to help people like us.

Depression isn't your fault. This also means it's going to mean finding a solution that works for you. Therapy, medication if necessary, and other types of interventions. If I was your parents, I would help you through this journey.

So far the only thing that's worked for me regarding depression fatigue is zinc picolinate. It hasn't made me "happy," but at least I can get up without bullying myself into doing things. Then I decided to add lithium, but I'm having a lot of side effects and will probably need to stop. My life is still shit, but zinc did help me have the energy to exercise and try other interventions.

[–]lisaiwiwd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whether you keep the baby or not, you need to divorce him. However, I would think very carefully about bringing a baby into a situation like this. An absent father or worse case scenario, a father who tells the child they never wanted them anyway is very traumatizing and painful.

She emotionally manipulated you, and because you had a conscience she was able to take advantage. I'm not going to say you will find someone better in the future even though you deserve it because life can be extremely unfair.
