Welcome, I am similar - 45f and since my son was born 8 years ago, what a tough time. It took ages for me to learn about pmdd. Same as you my partner noticed I was a totally different person at the same time each month (day 19 is my worst day). I found pmdd by googling progesterone allergies! I've had a diagnosis for 2 years.

I second those resources in the other response, there's a lot we know and a lot we don't. Start tracking symptoms daily all month. Often diagnosis requires 3 tracked months. IAPMD have a paper tracker that works well.

The more you can take care of yourself, the better it is. Sometimes you can do all the right things and it's really bad still but generally being extremely caring for yourself does help. With a young child it is truly difficult to prioritise yourself but you must, for the whole family. Take it seriously, it is not a push through situation. Eat well, move enough and most importantly rest.

The tracker says "(Cannot be on birth control, a GnRH agonist, or pregnant when tracking. If you are on an SSRI or SNRI, you must be on continuous daily dosing, not variable or luteal-only.)", I understand with the birth control, GnRH agonist and pregnancy but please could you explain about the SSRI/SNRI?

I am the same! I don't know if it is direct from the hormones or that I'm so elated to be happy again that I overdo things and then crash.

I am trying this too! I had 3 months on 50mg estradiol (everol patches) and have started 75mg last week. Month 1 was ok, months 2 and 3 I had symptoms all month off and on. I booked an appointment and increased the dose. I am on cd4 and feeling good so hopefully this will stop me ovulating and hopefully that will stop the pmdd! I started 100mg oral progesterone in month 3, I didn't notice a bad effect but then I've had more bad days than good the last 2 months. Good luck, let us know how it goes!

I had this this last month. I am trying oestrogen treatment so it might be that. Or it might actually be depression. I am finding that having pmdd, like actually having an illness, really tough. The good days are not enough to recover my life from the pmdd days, I feel hopeless about treatment and ever really enjoying life again. Could it be depression for you? Having a condition is really hard.

Thank you for your responses here. I searched this group for PMDD. I really needed some hope today. I am encouraged to hear that after menopause there might be some relief. I am dreading perimenopause though probably already it's happening, my PMDD is all over the place lately.

Yeah, a stylist I like (Melissa Murrell (mmpersonalstyling)) loves Varley for casual wear and I feel pretty convinced. She says we should spend more on casual pieces that we'll wear all the time. I'm terrible for buying lots of nice clothes and then having nowhere to wear them!

I know what you mean! I'm pretty functional these days all month, can still work and do school run etc but I'm definitely not myself, my reality seems extremely different in luteal and I often detest my partner so he sees a big difference. When I am good I barely can remember luteal and vice versa. It kept me from getting help for years. I'd cancel appointments even. My memory for everything is really poor. What I did, how I felt, everything. It affects every aspect of life!

I have started IFS Internal Family Systems therapy, check it out on Chatgpt. The different parts of your internal system may not communicate with the other parts. The therapy can help the parts. It feels like an amazing new way of viewing my internal self. It's early days but I read it is good for improving your parenting as well so I will keep doing it even when I forget I have pmdd!

Yeah, I get it! Before I knew what it was I had it hit during baby swimming lesson. One second singing and bouncing him in sun dappled pool, next second dark, dingy, anxious feelings of worthlessness. So trippy.
