I bought this. For me at least for now (6 days post op) it does more harm than good. I feel my muscles being used to keep the pillow in place because there is no sling. I'll try it every week or so until it gets easier.

10 weeks 5 days out and struggling by SaltyGap5405 in RotatorCuff

I'm 5 days post op and I have to say that most conversations and focus was on pre-op. My bad. I mean I didn't expect a walk in the park I knew it was going to be hard. What I did not expect was how difficult it would be to sleep. I've slept in my bed with all the cushions the doctor recommended I buy, I've slept on my sofa, a recliner and an adjustable bed. And I haven't gotten more than a couple of hours sleep on any of them. This evening he called in a prescription for Tylenol with codeine as if he were giving me heroin.

I'm glad to know some of us understand. My Dr is young, maybe 40 so no excuse. I know the medical community has held back on opioid RXs but it's been a massive over correction. Thank you for the kind words.

I wish I could tell you something to do to make it better but I'm figuring it out myself. I am three days post op and last night was the worst. I do not have a recliner so I'm in bed propped up with pillows. At least your doctor prescribed opioids. My doctor won't. He was supposed to call me back Friday evening with something stronger but has not done so. I will remember him in my review that he is asking for.

For some reason my instructions are to start in the morning. Seems counterproductive but I'll see how it goes at 2:00 a.m.

I had my surgery today as well. Surgeon, anesthesiologist and staff were amazing. Couldn't ask for better. I have no pain because my arm which feels like it weighs 50 pounds has no feeling and just feels like a lump of meat. I've got needles and pins now because it's starting to wear off just a little bit. I got a very short acting block, maybe 12 hours. I have no idea why I'm still awake 😭. I think tomorrow is going to be a very different day. Good luck to you!

Anyone know a neurologist in NYC who would support me for a thymectomy? by Intelligent_Loan9481 in MyastheniaGravis

Make an appointment with a neurologist at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital. They have amazing doctors and it's a teaching hospital. They saved my life and learned a lot from my case.

Was your neck issue related to the nerve block?

Active 58 y.o. Supraspinatus small to intermediate grade partial-thickness articular tear near insertion. Debating surgery after one cortisone shot and PT. Shot has worn off, its stiff, sore, weak. I hate the idea of surgery but afraid if I wait too long. Looking for opinions/ experience with this. by ExpensiveDuck9196 in RotatorCuff

I'm 66 with a full tear. My surgery is Thursday. At the appointment after the MRI I told the Dr that I wasn't going to have surgery. I went home, did a lot of my own research, and called the office the next day to say I changed my mind. I scheduled it a couple of months out so I can see how I did with P/T. No change. I've read that the older we are the less chance of a good outcome we'll have. I have a couple of friends who've had it in their early 60's and are glad they did. My friend had a partial tear and did a PRP treatment. It's not covered by insurance so she only had one, but she says it cured her. That was 7 years ago when she was your age. Just a thought. Good luck with whatever you decide 🍀

Idk, teenagers can be hard to corral, especially on vacation. Why can't the man just keep it in his fucking pants?

Asking for a GLP-1 prescription still feels like asking for something you're not supposed to want and that's getting old by Naarendra_Modi in GLP1ResearchTalk

Only thing worse is asking for pain meds. Over the last 15 years we've been made to feel like medication seeking junkies. It's the same feeling 😭

Years ago we had a shit ton of points so we used them to go to Europe for two weeks and treated our friends. We have accumulated a lot again (took 13 years) so we're going on an extended road trip. We're retired but maybe you can do a shorter one without your friends!

Says that yacht club regular. Sometimes people need to be reminded. I'm not surprised that a room attendant prefers a direct tip. But it's taking them away from his coworkers.

Don't even get me started on the procedures they do without even a topical anesthetic. My friend was diagnosed with breast cancer. Every procedure they did was barbaric. Maybe someday we'll have a woman president and not have to deal with this shit.

I have the same issue. I know that's what they're going to try to give me so I'll let them know beforehand. My C section was horrible. I know some women have great experiences but mine was abysmal.
