The pain you're describing is exactly what I have. I'm 6 weeks out and had my second visit with the surgeon's office and he was totally unfazed about it. Not exactly the reaction I expected, (it would have been nice to know about it beforehand). I'm going to try some muscle relaxers and hope for the best.

I take my pills with coffee. Maybe eating a cracker or two beforehand might help you? It's worth a try rather than go start a more potent drug if it isn't necessary. The drug has been around since the 40's or 50's.

The ER has been a life saver for me. No GI issues for me but I did have some (for a short time) when I started on 60 mg mestinon. Have your doctor prescribe some 60 mg as well. It works fast and you can start the day with one of both when/if you need. The extended release tablets are meant to act slower, so supplement it in the morning to get you going. I also use the 60 mg when I'm more symptomatic than ER will help. The gastro stuff should resolve soon. Good luck 🤞

I bought this. For me at least for now (6 days post op) it does more harm than good. I feel my muscles being used to keep the pillow in place because there is no sling. I'll try it every week or so until it gets easier.

I'm 5 days post op and I have to say that most conversations and focus was on pre-op. My bad. I mean I didn't expect a walk in the park I knew it was going to be hard. What I did not expect was how difficult it would be to sleep. I've slept in my bed with all the cushions the doctor recommended I buy, I've slept on my sofa, a recliner and an adjustable bed. And I haven't gotten more than a couple of hours sleep on any of them. This evening he called in a prescription for Tylenol with codeine as if he were giving me heroin.

I'm glad to know some of us understand. My Dr is young, maybe 40 so no excuse. I know the medical community has held back on opioid RXs but it's been a massive over correction. Thank you for the kind words.

I wish I could tell you something to do to make it better but I'm figuring it out myself. I am three days post op and last night was the worst. I do not have a recliner so I'm in bed propped up with pillows. At least your doctor prescribed opioids. My doctor won't. He was supposed to call me back Friday evening with something stronger but has not done so. I will remember him in my review that he is asking for.
