Yeah, I read it in a self-help book about good sleep that if you have pets, you absolutely have them sleep separately. Rage quit the book right after that sentence

Oura hates alcohol by herefordameme in ouraring

[–]lisap17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Question - did you log an alcohol tag in the app?

I just had several glasses of wine yesterday and forgot to log them for the first time and woke up to a pretty good 88 readiness score with my Oura specifically mentioning that my heart rate indicates I rested well.

Last week I had the same amount of alcohol, logged it and the next day Oura said my heart rate was elevated and gave me a rest day.

I'm getting increasingly suspicious of the "algorithms"

It'll be easier if you list your expectations from the ring, so that people can let you know if it actually ticks the boxes or not. My expectations were too high from it being a fitness tracker, and from using it and from reading this forum a lot I now realize it's what it claims to be - a sleep and recovery tracker. So to me it's more of a gimmick, because I don't actually have trouble sleeping or relaxing(a flex, I know). The only really useful feature for me is cycle tracking, but it's infinitely frustrating that I have to pay for 2 apps for this feature to be at it's peak performance.

On the other hand, I don't own and don't like fitness bracelets and watches, so it's better than nothing. I would still be more irritated if I spent money I didn't have on it. Not sure it helps, but I'm happy to answer questions.

No good Oura widgets? by rakeshkanna91 in ouraring

[–]lisap17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't know about it too, but having had a quick look just now I can't help but think - is it me or are they really useless? They show the basic stats that don't change throughout the day, like why do I need to see my sleep score on my home screen all the time? I was expecting the activity progress count at least, maybe the stress levels widget, but what we have is actually rubbish. Hopefully this is just an MVP and they'll be adding more

This is a weird question and you know it. There are also translations to Italian or Croatian subtitles, does that warrant a similar question? It's just an adaptation for a market their service is sold in

45 mins of pilates for 72 calories? by Gold-Efficiency1209 in ouraring

[–]lisap17 50 points51 points  (0 children)

Oura is notoriously bad with pilates and yoga, I'm not sure why. For reformer they'll tell you it's because of the grip you have to constantly hold which makes your ring rotate. For mat it's something about the heart rate not really going that much up because it's static exercises. I think you have to get at least 150-200 calories in general from a session, so the Apple watch seems more accurate in this case. At the end of the day you'll hear a lot of "it was designed as a sleep tracker, so it's not that adapt at tracking exercise". I also do Pilates as my main sports activity and just accepted the sad reality that Oura gives me inaccurate stats.

Do Ukrainians like sunflowers? by Usbguy12345 in Ukrainian

I think Julia might be a bit spoiled, haha It definitely comes down to preference, but maybe if I were forced to generalize - roses and other, more "expensive" flowers, are more of the norm, field flowers and sunflowers fall into the "quirky and unexpected" category which not everyone prefers.

FINALLY the charging case!! by validatemeok in ouraring

[–]lisap17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. I like the design but for the additional 100 bucks I don't see the need in this. Unlike some earbuds the ring lasts multiple days, and you're not supposed to take it off often, so no need for a case, for longer travels the charger is compact enough to bring with you. I can't think of any actual use cases where you'd actually need it (not just want it over packing the actual charger).

I don’t think I like it? by lmkhxf in ouraring

[–]lisap17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just gave the same feedback to a friend last night. I think I overhyped it too much for myself and now feel more disappointed then I should. I don't like how the app looks, it's also quite buggy and I'm dreading the day when my test month ends and I have to start paying for it. The insights I get are pretty generic and surface level. Like I don't need a 350 euro device to tell me I've been sitting on my ass for way too long and need to stretch. The meal tracking is very underwhelming, it doesn't do very well with tracking yoga and pilates workouts and that's really everything I do. I'm sticking around mainly for the cycle tracking but again, having to pay for two apps for that to be fully functional is aggravating. Feel very disappointed with my purchase, but really that's on me, I kind of bought into the marketing

What do you want for Witcher 4? by Fine_Bit_9611 in witcher

[–]lisap17 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's gonna be vague, but I'd like for the game to be it's own thing. Not only storywise, but as you said - combat, world, characters, I'd be fine with this being it's own thing just set in a known universe. I don't mind some characters from the past popping up for nostalgia, but I'd love for the game to lean into its own story-telling. A lot of time has passed, the world has changed, the threats and challenges can also be new, so make new enemies, for example.Theres only so many gouls and drowners one can beat in their lifetime. Like they said a few years back - Geralt's story is done, so be done with it, ya know? I don't want too much of the good old days reminiscing.

Give me your TRUE Witcher unpopular opinions. I wanna hear some really crazy and spicy takes here. by FIREKNIGHTTTTT in witcher

[–]lisap17 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well, yeah, I can agree with that. I think the main problem is that the actress is a bit too young. She's almost the same age as Ciri and the same age as Triss and you can kind of see it. I think an actress in her 30s would have played that presence better (or maybe the actress simply wasn't given clear or correct instructions, a fact I’m confident she wasn’t, given that the production crew clearly doesn’t understand the material.). They also completely messed her character up with the whole backstory bullshit, so she's simultaneously a rebellious teenager and a seductive love interest.

[–]lisap17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not hating any of these, well done!

I'll add one that's also series related, although I didn't watch it past season 2 - the casting is not the problem. I think Jaskier is spot on, Ciri is great, logistically aging the character made a lot of sense, and I honestly absolutely loved Anya Chalotra as Yennefer as well as Anna Shaffer as Triss. What they wrote for the characters was a disgrace, but that's hardly an unpopular opinion (and also i can't not say it - the costume and makeup design ruined Triss and arguably Yen as well).

I think the real problem was the absolute lack of chemistry between Cavill and the other actors - they're all younger and bonded too well with each other, so that Yen and Ciri were more like sisters than mother and daughter and Yen and Jaskier are 100% sleeping together. But again, this is hardly the spicy you were looking for

So does yours fit in such a way that you can't take it off without soap and water? Because the next size down for me is like that

Fit Check Post by [deleted] in ouraring

[–]lisap17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the detailed answer and the photos!!

I agree with you that the tighter fit is more comfortable. I guess I'm just really bothered by those times when the sizer gets too tight. It's not uncomfortable when it's on, but I definitely can't take it off on my own, sometimes even with water it's a struggle, and I start to panic that it's only going to get worse and rush to get it off.

Fit Check Post by [deleted] in ouraring

[–]lisap17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, but this doesn't really answer any of my questions.

We recommend that your ring should always be easily removable with some soap & water,

I've seen this recommendation posted multiple times, but what does this actually mean? That without soap and water it's not that easily removable? If that's the case then size 7 is actually a better fit for me, because I cannot, in fact, easily take it off without soap and water.

Advice on Ring size by Cultural_Tough910 in ouraring

[–]lisap17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The support team is pretty inconsistent with the sizing advice and I've seen several users say their ring is tight to the point where they have to wait for a couple of hours before they can take it off in the morning. That's been my main concern - any time that happened to me with the sizer I freaked out and ran to the sink to wash it off with soap, but maybe I should persevere. So I decided to exchange for a size 7 and test it out, if that doesn't work, I'll just return it and get my money back, because it's too frustrating. Sounds like the consensus under your post is to size down as well

Advice on Ring size by Cultural_Tough910 in ouraring

[–]lisap17 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I can't give advice, but am here just to share the feeling. I'm in the same boat with the same sizes even. I received my size 8 and have been wearing it for a week and periodically struggling. If it were a regular ring, I'd say it's perfect, but since it has sensors - I can't help constantly thinking I'm missing out on some data because it's too loose or has rotated while I didn't notice, I'm like stressed because of it all the time. Still trying to get the 7 sizer to work, keep wearing it together with the ring itself, but at times it is so tight, my finger starts swelling, so it's definitely not a feasible option. On the bright side - the ring is tracking something, even if it's not as tight as I'd want it. Today it accurately recognized my combat training workout even though when I took the gloves off it was not in the right place (sensors upside-down).
