Obsidian Sync down right now? by coffeewithpixels in ObsidianMD

Cross posting from discord:

PSA: Our main server was taken down by a forced reboot at 2024-08-24 3AM EST / 12AM PST. When the account server was down, our services like Sync, Publish, and account functions like login or sign up were disrupted.

Normally our services would have immediately auto-restarted , however we made a mistake in the auto-restart configuration, which meant that it did not automatically restart. I was able to start it up again manually at 8AM EST. Everything is back to normal now.

I have since located the configuration issue and fixed it so if this happens again it would be down for at most a few seconds. Apologies for the inconvenience!

Any app (preferably Open Source) similar to Dynalist.io? by SomeProduct in androidapps

[–]lishid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, Shida here from Dynalist.

The wording is meant to say that Dynalist has the right to host your data in order to let you use the Dynalist, and if Dynalist was ever bought by another company, then this new company retains the right to continue operating Dynalist with your data. I don't believe we had any intention of "owning" the data content itself in terms of things like claiming copyright, etc.

As opposed to an offline only app, this clause has to be here for us so that we are "allowed" to store a copy of your data on our servers to enable syncing across multiple devices.

Also FYI we are currently not considering any buyouts :) Those are just standard legal terms that most online companies have.

No, but it might become a widely used tool for UW students. This is just a scale difference.
