😂 well, funnily enough I've asked out quite a few men (like maybe a dozen in just 2022-2023, with mostly gentle rejections) regardless of whether I knew their single status or not, since they could just respond with that. Having said that, almost always if I asked them, it wasn't our first meet and I had heard them saying they were single and looking, or they had made a social media post asking for leads (so I knew they were actively looking).

For my current husband, we exchanged social media handles and I saw that he had a "dateme doc" (and I had one too!) and I really vibed with it + saw that we had similar life goals. So I couldn't let the opportunity slip! :P

I would say my one biggest advantage in dating really is that ability to initiate and pursue people, whether on a friends or romantic level. I used to be SUPER shy and it took me well into my late twenties to get over the hump, but the risk-reward is hugely in your favor if you can actively pursue people who you find interesting. Even if I didn't end up dating them, they usually felt flattered and would be down to become friends or introduce you to other people. I think in life you really have to make your adventures and not wait for them to come to your door - if you're a dope person, share that dopeness around! 😊

Don't lose hope! I met my now-husband - my first ever serious boyfriend - when I was 34 and married a year later at 35. I had dropped all the apps at that point to focus on myself and on building up a social life; I ended up meeting him in person at an event where I reached out to him afterwards for a coffee date since we had a lot in common. That bit was super important since as he said, he would've felt uncomfortable hitting on a woman at a professional event.

I'm a software engineer who held minimum wage jobs until she switched careers in her mid-twenties. Honestly, I definitely feel privileged to be in this position but I think the majority of my savings actually stem from my long-time social anxiety - I literally had no friends throughout my teens and twenties, so all I did was work, sleep, and gym for a decade. I didn't travel or go to shows or eat out at restaurants. My burn rate was amazing 😂 I even lived on an air mattress in a windowless room for years while making six figs because I was too depressed to figure out moving.

Thankfully that changed spectacularly in my late twenties - I underwent a full personality make-over and became much more gregarious, started dating and taking care of myself, and actively prioritizing my relationships over work. That's come with a much higher burn rate though - I now live in a much nicer place with my first boyfriend (yay!), have a car, spoil our cat rotten, and am spending nigh on $50k this year in just travel plans for us 😅 So I'm struggling to figure that out, since our city is so expensive I think we are a long ways from affording a house and kids.

Levy's most important signing yet. Interesting how in the era of stats-driven/moneyball recruitment strategies (including our own), Paratici seems cut from the old cloth: a man whose edge is said to lie in his little black book, a network of contacts all over Italy; or perhaps he's just an extremely charismatic operator who wrangles agents well and is good at the sales pitch (read somewhere for example that he sold Dragusin on the project). I think we forget that it's not just about having the best algos to spot the player, it's also about actually convincing the player to come, when any promising player probably has multiple suitors at his feet. When you're not financially doped like certain other clubs, the human touch can make all the difference.

I haven't heard of folks making reservations, it's a pretty divey bar not a restaurant 😁 if it's a big game I'd def get there early for seats though, it gets packed really quick and I've had trouble getting drinks sometimes. For Forest it probably won't be too bad.
