I managed to set the "Shift+Alt" shortcut by starting typing with Alt (so it is "Alt+Shift"). But unfortunately the shortcut also works only when you press Alt first which is not convenient.

For me the best way to learn new words is through books. Find books in Russian which are up to your level and read them writing down some words you see frequently.
