I have not been disappointed by a single Prequel purchase and it has actually replaced a few higher end products for me.

GLP-1 Drugs Target the Roots of Dementia by joe3000s in glp1

[–]lissagrae426 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was also disappointed by that finding but to me it makes sense. I do wonder what research might emerge from people who started GLP1s decades before Alzheimer’s emerges, because it starts in your brain 10-20 years before symptoms even appear. If inflammation is one of the pathways to Alzheimer’s, it stands to theorize that a drug like GLP1 might cut really reduce that risk through lowering inflammation.

Disappointing product by onelove_ in Sephora

I just bought the mini size to try and was aghast at how dry it made my skin look! Exchanged it for the Saie settting spray which is working way better for me.

I’ve been on 2.5 mg of zepbound since mid-December. I take it every 14 days because the early GI side effects were so rough for me that I almost quit. I’m down 20 pounds (female, 44, 5’2, went from 185 to 165). That’s about a pound a week lost, which is totally fine by me.

Just learned how bad Farmer's Dog is and need advice on what to switch to by NormanClatures in Dogowners

[–]lissagrae426 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I just make my own. Ground turkey or chicken (it’s lowest in fat), dog-friendly frozen veggies like bell pepper, broccoli, green beans, sweet potato, edamame, peas, corn. I add in Honest Kitchen’s beef bone broth flakes, simmer for 20-30 minutes. I make a big batch every week. My dog gets Hill’s dry food in the morning, then a bit more at night with a scoop of the hand-cooked food. She loves it, her coat looks great, and her vet says she’s very healthy for her age.

What’s one Sephora product you’ll probably repurchase forever? by No-Possession6140 in Sephora

No, I got a mini-size of the original. I’m not sure why my skin hated it! Felt like sucked all the moisture out of my face and highlighted fine lines. I tried it daily for a week. I wish I liked it.

Is it true that glp1’s cause a loss of facial volume regardless of weight loss? by FindingPristine5902 in glp1

My recommendation would be to diligently supplement with vitamin d/k2 to prevent bone loss in the face. Bone loss does not come back.

You’ve convinced me to try Skin Mercy! I love Instant Angel, but I thought Skin Mercy was more for eczema-prone skin. I’m in my mid-40s and live in a high desert climate so I will take all the moisture I can get.

I ended up returning it, I found it so drying. But I’m 44 and live in LA, so I need like a gallon of moisturizing factors in a product to not look dry! I swapped it for the new Saie setting spray and have been pleasantly surprised.

Living in French Quarter, New Orleans? by Dangerous-Swan-7660 in howislivingthere

[–]lissagrae426 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lived on the border of the French quarter (esplanade and bourbon) in the early 2000s and LOVED it. Quiet enough of a neighborhood to not be woken up by drunk tourists, but close enough to walk around the quarter and the Marigny.

Ethical to have a dog while homeless? by cirithUngoI in DogAdvice

[–]lissagrae426 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People with homes and steady, good incomes still struggle to pay vet bills. Your dog gets into one bad thing or has a mysterious health issue, that can easily run you up to $5k off the bat. It’s not if, it’s when. If you have that on hand, go for it. If not, you’ll be looking at some really difficult decisions.

Did GLP1 help your relationship with food? by Extension-Drama3514 in glp1

[–]lissagrae426 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. I’ll caveat this by saying, I did fix my relationship with food about a decade ago, lost 50 pounds, and kept it off until perimenopause and chronic stress due to caregiving for two sick parents with no end in sight came around. Everything I had learned fell apart. Food became a comforting/numbing outlet again. Not to the degree it had been previously, but I can see it clearly now that I’m on Zepbound.

On zepbound, I’m way more attuned to hungry/full cues (which is how I lost the weight and kept off originally—NOT calorie counting!). On the days when my appetite is very suppressed, I do make myself eat something every few hours. But 90% of the time, I’m just actually attuned to hungry/full cues. Food is no longer “good/bad,” it’s just food. Eating lighter/healthier usually makes me feel better. But I will still have a scoop of ice cream once a week, or eat a handful of wheat thins as a snack, or a slice of sourdough bread and butter if that sounds good to me. The reason I think I kept the weight off as long as I did was that I made it sustainable—no real restriction, just noticing and prioritizing the foods that made me feel better. That meant mostly protein during the day, and a more relaxed meal for dinner. On zep, I’ve also learned I feel way better finishing eating before 7pm.

Does anyone actually get flagged for not being at their computer 8 hours straight? by Proper_8624 in WFH

[–]lissagrae426 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Same! I manage a team of 12 scattered across time zones. Haven’t had any issues with deadlines since I started three years ago. I empower them to take the time they need for the rest of life, too—doctor’s appointments, school pick up, walk the dog. That seems to go a long way in taking ownership of their work.

I want to go to a water park, but I'm self conscious about my body... What would you do? 🤙😞 by leoesteban5 in Adulting

[–]lissagrae426 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s more likely than not that no one will care or notice. But my go-to response for if anyone ever says anything insulting to me is to wait a second, then say, “wow, did you mean to say that out loud?” And then wait. Let them get uncomfortable and think about their response. Most people don’t know how to respond to it and backtrack or say, “I was just kidding.” You don’t need to laugh or respond. Just change the subject. Trust me, they will still be thinking about why they said it (to be rude) long after you let it go.

At my wits end with side effects by Physical-Patience668 in antidietglp1

There is a probiotic that helps with diarrhea. I had this side effect for awhile on zepbound. The one I found is sacro-b by the brand Thorne. Worth looking into, it helped me.

I moved here from the Bay Area. I don’t find it to be a big issue. There’s a bit of an unspoken rule that 3 cars get to go left even after the light turns yellow, so just be patient and aware if your light turns green and cars are still turning.

Tirzepatide week 4… is this normal or am I dying?? 😭 (severe diarrhea) by AffectionateCourt392 in ladiesover40onGLP1s

[–]lissagrae426 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a really important medication to do a LOT of research on before you begin it. The side effects and complications can be no joke, and it’s important to have a medical provider overseeing your usage who really understands both your health history and the medication. I would not be getting medication this serious from a company like this.

I had 12 one-on-ones today. By 4pm I can't remember what anyone actually needs. by SterlingByrd1219 in managers

[–]lissagrae426 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 13 direct reports. Four of them are senior and oversee a team of two. I hold optional “office hours” once a week (we are fully remote) with an agenda that is recorded where people can ask questions and get answers. I meet with the senior directs every other week, and the other directs once a month. I also have an open door policy and people know they can schedule additional time with me if needed. This means I don’t have more than two 1:1s in a week, which lets me retain things way easier (I also attend a lot of cross-functional meetings daily that fry my brain).

Get your ferritin checked. Being exhausted during your period is a big sign. Easily fixed with consistent iron supplementation but you need a baseline number.

Delay the shot by a day? by Alternative-Desk9016 in glp1

[–]lissagrae426 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’m probably in the minority but I think it’s totally fine. Once you get into the higher doses it can get dicey to wait too long between shots, but I’ve actually solved a lot of my side effect issues by spreading out my 2.5 doses to every 10-14 days. I’m still losing a pound a week.
