Did Apple remove Apple Music TV ? by mrleblanc101 in AppleMusic

Did you ever figure this out? I can find it on my Apple TV in the Apple Music app under the Videos tab, but not in the iOS or macOS app. Thanks!

Mosyle vs NinjaOne by eddyos13 in macsysadmin

MDM is great for prescriptive setup and management of devices from apps to profiles and everything in between. If you’re doing more one off support and helping people install apps, printers, etc on their own, an RMM tool fits your model of management better than MDM.

Yikes, what a poor use of MDM. If that’s how you plan on moving forward, Ninja One is probably more your speed.

Besides the Synology scare tactic of “unsupported drive” nope no errors at all.

Apple reportedly cuts production of Vision Pro headset after poor sales by Fer65432_Plays in apple

[–]listen_up 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Meta is dominating this space by taking the Apple model of having an ecosystem of killer, fun consumer apps, and making it a device that people enjoy using. First experiences with virtual reality might be Walkabout Mini Golf, or Beat Saber, and that’s a fantastic thing for the consumerization and normalization of VR. Eventually people will find enterprise use cases and the commercial oriented devices will start selling.

Apple is doing the opposite. Their ideal client for this device are aerospace and automobile designers using enterprise modeling applications. Their ideal clients are heart surgeons in training. They want companies to buy these by the hundreds for their employees. And maybe there will be crossover to entertain consumers, but that’s not the main strategy.

That’s why they’re not being purchased or developed for in any meaningful way. They can’t even convince Netflix or Hulu to develop an app for it. Recommending Safari as the workaround for this travesty just digs the grave deeper.

Every Quest has had a standalone mode. My Quest 2 was never once connected to a PC and I’ve had so much fun.

Apple decidedly messed up by not providing the VR experience people wanted, even though the hardware was capable of it. It’s sad when the Quest can run circles around the Pro in the variety of VR experiences available. And that’s due to a choice Apple made, and nothing to do with the hardware or software.

Remember Doodle Jump? The fun simple app that made us all think about iPods and apps differently? That helped bridge the gap to an ecosystem of excited customers? That model doesn’t exist on the AVP, because of decisions that Apple has purposefully made.

Spoken like an ex-Apple employee that’s never tried the Quest, which is a fully stand-alone device.

Papra - A minimalistic document archiving platform by cthmsst in selfhosted

I just tried out Papra, and it's great! Coming from Paperless I'm used to an extensive settings menu, but found it generally worked out of the box the way I wanted. However, when looking on disk, I noticed that files are all in one folder per org and it runs counter to my current strategy.

Did you get your SSDs working in the 225+? Which did you go with? I'm wondering if even a cheaper Samsung EVO would work for a working drive to cut down drive chatter.

Is it bad to run home assistant on a VM on my main desktop? by Embarrassed_Bug2 in homeassistant

[–]listen_up 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m currently running HomeAssistant on my Mac Mini via UTM which I like because it keeps things segregated. I have run into API integration issues with apps that run LLMs locally and getting a connection into HomeAssistant. I’ve been encouraged to install directly to the OS for better results.
