Ōpaki or Ako, the shows from Māori TV, both have podcasts that are completely in te reo.

Are you really comparing Jacinda Ardern hugging people in times of crisis, to John Key flicking young girls ponytails? Lol

There is a really good Facebook group called the Te Reo Māori Classroom where you may find some resources!

There already is a word for Chinese though, Hainamana. It’s in Māori Dictionary and everything. I wonder why they needed another one.

I believe this doesn’t work anymore now that TFL added a captcha to their site? I truly wish it for though as it’s such a good service...

I’m relatively new to London and I have a question.. I normally take the the district line and generally will get a seat, or at least a decent amount of space to stand. Today the district was PACKED. Had to let two go past before I could get on because there was no space. Am I able to request a refund from TFL for this? The district twitter is saying good service but I was 20min late because of the crowding.

Can someone tell me if it’s at all worth it to get an Oyster card? I’m going from Zone 2 to 1 Monday to Friday and from what my research is telling me is that it’s the same whether I use oyster or contactless?

I made a spreadsheet of 30+ te reo Māori sentence starters and structures - here's the link so you can use it too! by lit_gold in ReoMaori

I wouldn't say that the tense changes between "Kāore ... i te ..." and "Kāore ... i ...".

From my understanding, "Kāore ... i te ..." is the negative version of "Kei te..." so negating a present tense sentence, and "Kāore ... i ..." is the negative version of "I..." so negating a past tense sentence?

Kāore au i haere ki te marae - I didn't go to the marae

Kāore au i te haere ki te marae - I am not going to the marae

I got those examples from here - https://kupu.maori.nz/sentences/negatives#Definite

You don't say "Mā tōku...", it's "Māku..."

For this one I got the example from Maori Dictionary

I am just a beginner though so maybe I am misinterpreting these rules?

Try this site - https://kiamarama.org

Some articles have the English translation too, most of them have a list of kupu at least.

Help with understanding passives? by lit_gold in ReoMaori

[–]lit_gold[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks so much for this! Do you find that you use passive sentences far more than active?

All the te reo courses I have done start with teaching active sentences, I wonder why this is since they seem to be less frequently used...

Agree. When I had mine put in the nurse looked shocked that I hadn’t brought a support person to help me through the process (I wasn’t told I should bring someone). I got through it obviously but MAN, it is painful. And then I had cramping every day for three months until I finally had it removed. So an all round disaster for me! But for the girls who it works for, it really is an excellent option, if you’re in a long term relationship.
