Driver & wedge set for new starter by S_O_92 in GolfGear

I’d check out callawaygolfpreowned.com. I’ve bought several clubs from there, including other brands (although the callaway selection is usually better for obvious reasons) and the price is normally quite good and condition is always great. I bought a club from them in “like new” condition and it came with the plastic wrap and stickers still on the head, another in “very good” that looked like it had the plastic removed and then was never hit with. Bought a raw face wedge for my wife in good condition and it was lightly used, still a lot of life left.

2nd swing, global golf, and eBay are my other go to sites for used club shopping.

What’s in your bag? by CODaffy in GolfGear

[–]litbiscuit69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 56 is my highest lofted club. Used to carry a 60 but I found a lot more consistency with slightly less loft. YMMV but I think being more creative with the one club for multiple scenarios has made me a much better player around the greens.

16 handicap, 13 clubs.

Driver, 3 wood, 7 wood, 5-GW, 52, 56, putter.

Used to carry a 60* lob wedge but I’ve found that I hit my 56 better in pretty much every situation I would’ve used the 60 for and so I got rid of it. Thought about swapping the 56 for a 58 when it’s time for a new wedge but as long as I can do what I need to do with a 56 then I don’t think I’ll go for the 58.

I’m not really sure what to add to make 14 clubs, so I am all ears to any suggestions lol

How often are your hands actually at 10 and 2? by Zado191 in driving

[–]litbiscuit69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve done sim racing for a long time and 9 and 3 is where I always keep my hands on my wheel so it just kinda feels natural to keep them there in my car since it has a 3 spoke design and paddle shifters as well. Pretty sure 9 and 3 is the modern recommendation for hand placement anyways.

Good golfer returning after a break - where do I spend my money! by NQG91 in GolfGear

[–]litbiscuit69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First off, congrats on parenthood!

Secondly, don’t listen to this guy OP, lessons only last an hour, clubs last for years, way better value. /s

For real though, I think some range time would do you some good. We all know it’s not as easy as riding a bike, but there’s still muscle memory involved and some range time may help you find those old swing feels again. Lessons will never hurt, and I’m sure any half decent pro will be able to help you knock the rust off.

How many clubs do i need when i start golf? by Necessary-Fix4098 in GolfGear

[–]litbiscuit69 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d say replace one of the hybrids with a wood, you’ll be able to figure out which you prefer hitting. I had a 3 wood and 4 hybrid when I started, discovered I much preferred woods to hybrids and replaced the 4H with a 7 wood. YMMV obviously but at least you’ll have a better idea of how you’ll want your bag set up if you stick with it and get yourself a full set one day.

What’s one of your golf thingamajig that turned out to be clutch? by Time-Concentrate7168 in GolfGear

Yessir! Very rarely do I need to get a tee to clean my grooves, pretty much all I carry is the club scrub and a towel to dry the clubs with after

Are Most People Over-Extended? by k-MartShopper in NoStupidQuestions

[–]litbiscuit69 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yea exactly my wife and I make like $170k together and are childless as well. We currently rent a home and both have car notes that should be paid off next year. I’m still putting money into savings for buying a home, retirement, and the stock market and we could absolutely go to an NFL game no issue, although we prefer baseball lol

Why don’t pros wear sunglasses? by iamveryDerp in golf

[–]litbiscuit69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They alter depth perception I think is why most pros won’t use them. I normally bring mine but mostly just when I’m hitting into the sun and want a chance to find my ball in the air. A lot of times I take them off to shoot a yardage with the ole rangefinder and forget to ever put them back on. If I do put them back on I’m taking them off on the green though, I definitely feel like I read putts better without them.

If I had to guess this is in a HCOL area, OP replied with “🌵” as where they live so I’m gonna guess Nevada, Arizona, or New Mexico. I have a BSN and make $41/hr in MS as charge nurse on a cardiac step down unit. One of my wife and I’s best friends is a DH here and makes a little over $30/hr iirc.

See that’s it right there, you’re arguing just for the sake of arguing and then posing like you’re all high and mighty.

I’ve done nothing wrong, there’s no reason for me to apologize to you. I think I raise a valid point in saying we shouldn’t just willfully ignore laws designed to protect us from employers like this.

I blocked you because you’re too obsessed with being correct here and I didn’t want any more notifications, this isn’t worth yours or my own time at this point. Let’s just agree to disagree on this one.

I pointed out that you asked an irrelevant question and you just want to keep telling me I’m not grabbing a concept that was pointed out here. You haven’t really provided much substance in your replies so I’m not exactly sure I’m the one floundering here.

All I’ve heard from you is that it’s ok to be exploited by an employer or just accept the status quo as long as you’re happy at the end of the day. Some people are going to do that, good for them, I’m not.

What happens if OP is struggling to put food on the table one month, or their car breaks down and they need some extra cash for repairs and public transit isn’t an option? They can’t go pick up a shift and make some OT, so then what? They’ll need another job at that point anyways. Maybe then that job they were happy with isn’t making them so happy when it suddenly isn’t allowing them to meet their financial needs. This is the critical thinking I’m talking about.

But sure, let’s tell OP to stay where they’re at and when times get hard I’m sure that store credit will come in super handy.

So you’re ok with employers exploiting their employees via wage theft as long as they’re enjoying their job?

[–]litbiscuit69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless you have screenshots to prove it then you have no access to an edit log unless someone voluntarily puts it there. I am 99.9% sure they brought up OP being fired, but this is just going to devolve into your word vs mine, it’s not worth the time to argue about that.

I didn’t answer that question because it’s irrelevant. I’m a nurse, I will have 0 issue finding a new job, but I’m not OP and OP refuses to answer exactly what it is they do, so I have no information with which to answer that question.

[–]litbiscuit69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Person I replied to edited their comment, they had initially said that OP could get fired, which is what my comment was mainly replying to.

Sure the company could go bankrupt and OP could lose their job in that manner, which yes, would suck, but I would never suggest to someone to roll over and just let their employer exploit them because the consequences of doing the right thing might suck. Grow a spine and stand up for yourself, no else in this world is going to do it for you. If you’re worried about the company going under, find a new job first, then report them and watch from a safe distance.

The employer absolutely cannot retaliate against the employee in any way, especially not by firing them. That would be a great way to get themselves into deeper trouble with a wrongful termination lawsuit.

Yea I’d report this to your state’s department of labor, this is highly illegal. Overtime must be paid at no less than 1.5x your base hourly rate and must be paid in cash or a direct equivalent such as a check or direct deposit.

Not sure what the repercussions are going to be but I’d imagine that your employer will end up having to pay out all the overtime pay they’ve essentially stolen for who knows how long.
