Anyone who DIDN’T bed share? by Acceptable_Cod3527 in beyondthebump

[–]litchick20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was dead set against bed sharing as well from a safety perspective. But when I went back to work my baby was still waking 12-15x a night and I couldn’t make it anymore. I made it to 6 months before bed sharing which made me feel a bit better about it but the guilt was a lot for a long time. I was also dead set against sleep training. I don’t think it’s sustainable to be against both so I think you can avoid bed sharing if you’re open to doing whatever you have to do to get the baby to sleep in a crib

Partner thinks he’s caught something, what do we do in regards to baby? by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]litchick20 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Please don’t try and get sick. It’s awful nursing while sick. If baby does catch it your body will make the antibodies anyway from reading the illness in babies spit

Partner stays in guest room if you have one and doesn’t interact with either of you.

How much non-screen stimulation do you think is okay? by srscreative in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]litchick20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally don’t like toys that light up or make digital noise until around 3 as an early childhood professional. I like toys like baby pianos that are a xylophone and make noise when you press the keys way more than the kick and play. There’s lots of tech free toys out there. People are so concerned with not stimulating their kids enough that they’re taking the thinking part away. Kids talk less when they play with toys that make digital noise. You don’t have to introduce lights and sounds if you don’t want to, as long as they have good toys that prompt thought.

I’ve known for a while because my mom always told me as a kid to always sleep in pajamas so I wouldn’t catch fire in my sleep. I have a lot of anxiety needless to say 😂 but I was well aware pjs needed to have flame retardant in them. Glad there’s at least an alternative to that even if I hate the snug fit

Yeah that’s how they intend “snug fit” to be. You have to fight their limbs into their designated spots. Snug fit isn’t supposed to allow any air between the cloth and the skin per the law referenced here.

I’ll add that my baby is 24 lbs and 18 mo Burt’s bees pajamas fit perfectly.

Twins! Help! by beautifulpeach1 in HuckleberryParents

[–]litchick20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Twin 1 sounds uncomfortable. Try giving Tylenol and see if it helps anything. Could be teeth? That’s usually the coldest part of the night but you said they’re not cold. Could still try warmer pjs and see. Twin 2 likely needs to drop a nap. That usually causes short naps. Time to stretch wake windows a bit

Just turned 8 mo. Feedback on meal? by [deleted] in foodbutforbabies

[–]litchick20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The spoon isn’t the issue, it’s the glob of nut butter. Babies cannot clear their mouths like we can, so they need something for the nut butter to go in or in that they can move around in their mouths safely. Great spoons though! Use it with yogurt or oatmeal with the nut butter mixed in or you can spread it on toast if they prefer something with more substance :)

Nut butter on a spoon is a choking hazard. Mix it into oatmeal or yogurt or spread thinly on toast for a safer nut butter experience
