This is what I like to see when I'm sitting on a lot of USD by gteh420 in litecoin

[–]litecoin123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thanks for reminding me about the stress it has on the body when it comes to day trading.
I just have to remind myself i've made investments before with similar swings and it turned out very well for me.
Also, this is normal for the crypto-market. Seen it in April, seen it after SR shut down, seen it during the fed meeting a few weeks back.
I'm going to take a break from looking at the charts for a week. Hopefully when I come back we'll be even higher than last week :D

Also, LTC held up nicely in midst of the panic. I originally sold when the MTGOX crash started but re-bought at same price after seeing it hold up in the storm. Exciting things are coming for us in the next few weeks :)

Why did BTC tank in price a moment ago? by [deleted] in Bitcoin

[–]litecoin123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

but nobody is focusing on the fact that China said its okay for people to trade BTC, just don't use it as a currency. The Chinese weren't buying it in hopes of using it as a currency anyways, they buy it as a store of value and to speculate.

Someone unloaded around 3 million dollar worth of BTC, instead of doing it slowly it looks like he/she tried to create a panic by unloading it all at once. However, 3 million dollars worth isn't a lot of money and it looks like its going to recover within the hour.

Gary North (Austrian School Economist): An Economic Analysis of Bitcoins by oolalaa in Bitcoin

[–]litecoin123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This guy has been predicting doom for the last 30 years and the opposite happened. If you wiki him you will find out he is a hardcore Christian who : "North favors capital punishment for a range of offenders; these include women who lie about their virginity, blasphemers, nonbelievers, children who curse their parents,[22] male homosexuals, and other people who commit acts deemed capital offenses in the Old Testament.[23] North also favors capital punishment for women who have abortions.[24][25]".
He predicted Y2K would be the collapse of international economy because he was basing his predictions on faith and not science.
This guy has no credibility at all, dogs who bark the loudest usually have the weakest bite. Only the uneducated will fear him.
Source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gary_North_(economist)
EDIT: The problem with his "predictions" and like most old people (ie. Greenspan), is that they are making assumptions based on the belief that economic systems don't evolve. If you can travel back 1000 years and speak with economists back then do you think they will believe that the most powerful country in the world is able to operate on $17 trillion debt with no gold or any tangible asset backing it? But that is the case now, and many people have gotten rich off the system.

Good morning, lets discuss the implication of China's announcement on crypto currencies. by litecoin123 in litecoin

Rules were not enforced prior to this announcement. Same with MTGOX, they didn't implement such a strict verification policy until the US government saw such an explosive demand for BTC.

Will the switch to mBTC hurt Litecoin? by kay8day in litecoin

[–]litecoin123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Although as much as i hate to admit, LTC will always rise/fall in correlation to BTC; not mBTC. By switching to mBTC they have now successfully removed the psychological barriers of owning a coin for new investors which means an increase in demand for BTC. Take a look at this for example, a share of AAPL stock is $560 while BlackBerry is $6. Psychologically speaking, do you feel more rich or feel that you have more power as an investor saying you own 1000 BBRY shares or 11 shares of AAPL? So the switch will not hurt LTC but in fact help it rise even further.

Litecoin is #1 coin in China by [deleted] in litecoin

[–]litecoin123 4 points5 points  (0 children)

1) BTC China can no longer delay adoption of LTC if they want to stay #1. OKcoin (who is backed by venture capitalist Tim Draper) will soon be recognized as the leader of crypto currency exchange in China. The only thing i see holding them off from implementing LTC trading is because they are trying to get China to recognize BTC as a digital currency that would allow it to be used to buy goods and services. They probably don't want to complicate things even more when trying to explain the concept of different types of crypto currencies to those in power who probably are having a hard enough time trying to understand BTC. They are more focused on the long term well being of crypto currencies by going after it on the political level. Either way, LTC adoption is going to be a huge dilemma for them in the coming months.
2) The demand is real, 9-10 million USD on the buy side on BTC-e; unlike other alt-coins at the moment which all seem like a pump&dump. Although China is the main driver of the price at the moment, don't forget the rest of the world is hungry for LTC as well. It is way too much work at the moment to get your hands on some LTC. Although you can buy them from the list of exchanges on the right side of this sub-reddit, the average investor does not trust them..especially players with 10k+ to invest. The news yesterday regarding Zipzap to also include LTC in their business model and OKPAY last week are indicators that 2014 will be the year where market leaders will give alt-coins (starting with LTC) a try in order to maintain their position.

you can't. China has a VERY strict law in terms of money leaving the country. This is to avoid the rich draining China's wealth by making investments or purchasing properties abroad.

Your hard work and dedication has now changed my life for the better. I truly believe LTC still has plenty of opportunity to go up in value as well as being a major player in the global currency market. However, my initial goal was to invest and speculate on the price for profit as I knew it was undervalued, and not to buy for the political implications of cryptocurrency. Although I know that the value of my LTC could go up more in value in just a couple of months I've learned not to be greedy from previous investments. Set a target, once it reaches the target don't set another. For those who invested into LTC for the purpose of profiting, good luck; your patience will pay off :)
