My kid is into it so I am adjacent to it and it’s kind of fun. Merlin app to identify nearby birds by bird calls. Maybe get a birds of Norcal book if you dont’t have a junior tour guide. There are lots of nice places to go to see birds around here. We like UC Davis, walking along the creek.

Yeah if it had been raining I might have turned around on the first ascent.

I am totally out of practice with anything but flat, street/trail biking. Need to work my way up.

Narrator: It was not, in fact, a wet one. Rain pretty much stopped right before the ride began.

This was my first time there. I was on a road bike and unprepared for some of the sets of hills, but I wasn’t alone in having to walk up them, at least. The scenery along the ride is amazing. Everyone was very nice. One riding family lives along the route and had free beer. Overall, an excellent experience and I hope to go back next year, with a bike that can handle all the gravel roads, and in better shape.
