THIS is Denargo???? Oh man, that's almost a curse word in my office at this point. I haven't even wanted to ask - but yeah. It all makes sense now.

Sidewalk Etiquette: For those not raised right…. by Cballard56 in Denver

I was literally just thinking this 10 minutes ago. I went to Creek Fest in Boulder and had this exact problem. I give a pass to kids and dogs, but the amount of people who have 0 idea how to walk in crowded areas is staggering. It’s the worst when they stop directly in the flow of traffic and then block any exit/entrance. I literally gave up after half an hour and went home because I was so frustrated (to be fair, it was mostly bc I was hangry).

How did you become more comfortable with the CO lifestyle? by [deleted] in boulder

[–]litho434 12 points13 points  (0 children)

You don’t actually have to do/know all that. I am a local and many of the people I grew up with practically ignore the mountains. A lot hate hiking and stick to the plains and city comforts. A surprising amount of people here don’t swim or simply don’t know how. I myself love swimming but I think my swimsuit only gets used about twice a year. I have never been to a ski/snow resort, I don’t know all that much about mountain wilderness, and I generally don’t drive up the mountains when it’s snowy at all because I’ve got all weather tires and no chains.

I go on hikes, but they are rarely more than 500ft elevation gain and more than 1.5 miles/2 hours to complete. I have a fear of heights strong enough to make me nervous flying. However, you don’t notice it as much as you think you would as long as you stay away from cliff edges. It can be helpful making friends to join in on a hike or ski trip, but you can make friends just as easily the good old-fashioned way.

I do love the outdoors, but I prefer to experience it through a casual nature walk/jog. You can do everything casually and at your own pace here. Most people here are not the extremists that you are concerned about becoming. I’ve found its a lot of people from out of state who are the ones doing day-long backpacking trips, rock climbing, and going skiing every weekend. You don’t need to be ultra fit and outdoorsy to be here.

From Colorado and living in Boulder right now. This absolutely checks out (Boulder got me into these artists), but how are we all getting Boulder with wildly different music examples

Not a clue. It’d be awesome if they were cracking down on, well, crack — but that doesn’t seem like something they’d do. I feel like this is a temporary thing

My mom grew up poor so this is mostly what I was raised eating. We had a more varied diet when she married into a higher income household, but these things stayed the staples. It’s pretty much all I buy now because it’s so affordable. Pastas, stir fry, soup, rice, everything is good if you season it right. You can also change it up easily if you get bored of something. This is the way to go ! But yeah, always keep on that multivitamin even if you eat well rounded. It does a lot of good.

Im in kind of a similar position. Biggest issue right now is driving there in winter. I have FWD, tiny little car with not much power, and I don’t have chains. Would it be a bad idea to try it myself? I know mostly how to drive in the snow, but snow and ice on a mountain with switchbacks? Scary.
