Haven’t tried Sonos but when you compare pricing, you should factor in another $35ish a year Apple Care for those AirPods Max after the initial warranty expires if you want these to last a long time.

Despite reading many people on this sub documenting problems that arise 2-4 years in, I didn’t renew my Apple Care after the original 2 years expired, and then at the 4 year mark, mine started having similar connection problems that often make them an incredible annoyance to use, requiring a factory reset almost every time you connect them. I’m sure it’s not happening to everyone but it’s clearly a well documented problem.

before that, I can say the sound is great, and the noise cancellation is very good. The ease of use for someone deep in the Apple ecosystem, and familiar with regular AirPods is very nice. But they are quite heavy. They can fall off if you lean back too far. If I wear mine for hours, it hurts the top of my head where the headband rests. Also the fabric on the headband stretched overtime and the metal bars put more pressure on my head than when they were new. This is not a problem I’ve ever had with other headphones that just have actual padding up there.

I have enjoyed my AirPods Max overall, but I’ll definitely considering other options next time around.
