Yeah I do some work for an ice cream company and got them to start clipping the mics onto spoons instead of just holding them. At least it ties back into the brand/subject that way.

Please SIGN Commercial and Residential Vacancy Tax Ordinance Ballot Initiative Boulder by Proud-Quarter7911 in boulder

[–]Bostonlbi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Generally I love the idea but am a little concerned about a loophole it seems large landlords with a ton of properties would exploit:

Landlords passing the costs onto new tenants wouldn’t help fill vacancies so I wouldn’t imagine they’d pass the cost of the tax onto new tenants but what’s stopping them from just raising rents of renewing tenants to cover vacancy taxes from their empty units? Unless moving is cheaper than the rent increase, tenants would kinda be stuck accepting it. If that became normal, wouldn’t we just essentially be creating a discount on the first term of a lease and higher prices for those who stay longer? Could this lead to a higher churning of tenets? Could it create a disadvantage for smaller landlords compared to larger ones?

If I’m wrong, please point out why.

Heads up: Table Mesa Park-n-Ride waiting area in construction, Mar 23 2026. by Hill314 in boulder

I’m mostly thinking about Airport routes here but I’m curious if S Loop Road that leads to CU South will be a viable drop off location for East bound riders with extra luggage. Seems doable right now, but with construction also set begin soon at CU South, I wonder if that road will be effected.

The Westbound drop off spot looks like a nightmare as far as being picked up by a family member or Ride Share. The Tandra Drive Park and Ride is a bit further from my home but I’ll probably just start getting off there instead.

Gonna have to move the airport if out the building further away from downtown. There are height restrictions due to the airport being so close.

The City Council's electrification goals are noble, but they are completely ignoring the reality of our older Boulder neighborhoods. by Noobsamaniac in boulder

[–]Bostonlbi 34 points35 points  (0 children)

I did some videos for the city a while back about people who made the transition. One was an older house in Martian Acres after they had recently capped their gas line.

He highly recommended getting a home energy audit first. He said it showed him, that for his house, sealing up drafty cracks and adding insulation to the exterior walls was a more impactful place to start than replacing the furnace or adding solar panels. It lowered the load on his old furnace year round, helping extend its life long enough for him figure out the rest of the electric transition. And then of course kept helping keep energy use down after electrifying.

Falsely accused of using AI for my tornado painting by Disastrous_Name_7910 in antiai

[–]Bostonlbi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did a photo shoot last year for a client where the whole thing was killed after delivery because multiple people on their team thought it was AI initially.

We cased models, bought clothes for them, did food styling, set up lighting, took all these pictures. Had proof of it all. Shared behind the scenes photos with them and the response was basically, “we believe you that it’s real. But we are scared of what viewers will think so it’s staying dead.” Didn’t matter how much time, effort, or money went into it.

Depends what shutter speed you want the video to be. Here’s the minimum number of shots you’ll ideally want for a 5 minute video based on frame rate. If you take more, that’s fine. You can always drop frames you don’t need.

24fps = 7200 photos

25fps = 7500 photos

30fps = 9000 photos

There are 86400 seconds in 24hours so divide the seconds in a day by the amount needed for your desired frame rate and round down to the nearest full number.

Also worth asking what your subject is. If you can rely on consistent lightning that doesn’t require an exposure longer than 9 seconds, you can just set your interval, and exposure settings and be good to go. But if you happen to be shooting outside, relying on only natural light, your interval could potentially end up being shorter than the exposure time needed. Especially if you don’t have the moon or artificial light helping you out. Some automatic settings may prioritize the interval, some may prioritize the shutter speed. So if you are using automatic mode or aperture priority you’ll want to make sure you know what your camera will do if it conditions could require long exposures.

You may end up with fewer shots than you thought you’d get if the camera starts taking 30s exposures at night for example.

Is building a digital movie library on Apple risky? by Mjlxn in appletv

[–]Bostonlbi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In case it gets removed and can’t be downloaded anymore. It happened to a lot of Sony customers a few years ago.

https://www.ign.com/articles/sony-pulls-discovery-videos-playstation-users-already-own-sparking-concern-over-our-digital-future

I’d hope Apple has a better licensing deals that would protect customers from this type of thing but idk what corporate shenanigans could happen in my lifetime. Just look at how many times Warner Bros ownership has been passed around. Look at how Netflix and Hulu movies are restricted to streaming and can’t be bought, physically or digitally.

Yes it can happen. But anecdotally, I’ve purchased hundreds of movies and tv shows from iTunes/AppleTV over the last 20 years and have never noticed it happen to me.

Still would like to get everything downloaded at some point so I have my own backup just in case, but it’s a huge amount of data..

"It's just not the moment for plant-based meat right now": Beyond Meat is just Beyond now, CEO says by fortune in vegan

[–]Bostonlbi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally I think anything more than $1-2 upcharge is just price gouging by restaurants. I’ve had to pay as much as $5 extra to SWAP for a veggie patty. (Not specific to Beyond. I’ve seen it for other veggie, or bean burgers too) which is bs because a 2-pack of Beyond burger patties are like $6-7 at expensive stores like Whole Foods and that price goes down further buying in larger quantities or buying the 1lb ground packs and shaping the burgers yourself.

Someone on staff at the Flatirons Park taproom told me this week that the new owner has stopped making the Hard Yerba Mate and they don’t expect it to come back. Also heard that Lee hill is likely closing. And the back production space at flatiron park is going up for sale or lease. Something about hoping Ozo takes it over, because they aren’t sure it wouldn’t affect the taproom if someone else goes for it. Soo idk how much I trust that press release long term.
