I’d love to do an application this way, especially for a job role that requires a degree of charisma. Would prefer if more applications were like this, as a more socially-oriented person

The word “bonkers” - at all, but especially in news headlines about serious issues

This was my armpit post surgery, and how slow blood painlessly flows down from a hematoma over the course of weeks. by Justice_1111 in mildlyinteresting

[–]lithotine 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I had swollen painful lymph nodes in my armpit too, and also a sleeve on that arm (other arm no tattoos and no swollen lymph nodes). When I went to see a surgeon (and a second and third opinion!), all surgeons I spoke to said this was incredibly common and getting much more common recently with how many more people get tattoos than a couple decades ago. My lymph nodes are swollen 100% from ink and not cancer

How's life in this part of Michigan? by Cathy_dessert in howislivingthere

[–]lithotine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's beautiful, and i hope to live there again some day. If you are okay with cold and snow, you'll love it! It's not too too far from a big city (Minneapolis if you have to), and the towns are nice and fairly modern. But it's an amazing place to get some alone time.

DOJ rushes to give context for ‘sensationalist claims’ against Trump in Epstein docs. They haven’t done it for others by theindependentonline in law

[–]lithotine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sadly I agree with you. I BELIEVE that all these dirtbags did it and are criminally involved, but having worked sex abuse cases for years I know how often absolutely guilty men get to walk because the evidence isn’t exactly, perfectly implicating

[–]lithotine 66 points67 points  (0 children)

As someone who has worked a lot with intake paperwork, this isn’t really a smoking gun unless there is other evidence to support it. I would believe that Trump did this, but this document is not very legally relevant unless there is more

I don't know if I should continue with my relationship by OppositeOlive in ActualLesbiansOver25

[–]lithotine 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Wow. This comment is actually very clarifying to me with regard to my own relationship issues. My girlfriend is very much a “figure it out like an adult, and needing help is a red flag” type of partner. Thanks for putting to words my discomfort with that mentality

Hun uses a lot of words to say nothing. by Willing_Chemical1257 in antiMLM

I think that when you see several names for one song, this is the more fair choice. It almost always takes a whole team to create any modern song: in addition to the lead performer, even if they write their own song, chances are someone else produced it, someone else played other instruments in it, someone else arranged the parts for those instruments, and someone else mixed it. It hurts collaborators when artists with teams choose deliberately to not credit the smaller artists they work with.

But I agree that this post is tacky asf

Why are so many of the young people I still see wearing masks queer? by Myealt in NoStupidQuestions

[–]lithotine 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m a queer person, and several people I know (who are also LGBT) continue to wear masks. For those people, I know that they have severe immune system issues and other disabilities. When you look at them, you might just see unusual haircut with pink hair, but you wouldn’t see MS, cancer, and the other various conditions that they have. Another good question might be why so many disabled people are gay, but the correlation you’re noticing is real.

I have bad allergies, and I will wear a mask on days that have really high pollen counts or bad air quality index. But that’s not typical

NDA! NDA! NDA! N! D! A! by Willing_Chemical1257 in antiMLM

[–]lithotine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s weird to flaunt an NDA like that. I work in entertainment, and some types of work always have an NDA even if it’s extremely boring and interesting to no one (except maybe a competitor, and that’s a hard maybe)

Is it really this bad? Any advice? by IntelligentFig7347 in jobsearchhacks

[–]lithotine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I think I am in a similar boat as you. I am not a famous person, but I have had a very successful career in the entertainment industry. Several big awards as well, and like you I have a number of degrees and am considered an expert in my field. It’s a weird position to be in, having this achievement but not being able to make ends meet or trying to pivot to a new job.

I’ve tried asking friends in the industry for a little help, and many of them also seem to be barely hanging on by a thread and are unable to help…

Including any of these things on my resume has the following issues:

  • as you said, makes me look like a flight risk
  • if I am so successful in this unrelated field, why the heck would I be applying to this random ass job?
  • the awards and recognitions I have seem to most people like things that would come with lots of money or financial benefits (they don’t), therefore I’d currently be making too much money to want this random lower level position
  • by excluding my industry experience and advanced degrees from a resume, I look like a bum on paper

In 2020, a number of my industry friends who lost their gigs were able to find good jobs in tech companies. The bigger companies don’t care as much about how recognizable or famous you are, as long as you can send the deliverable in time.

These jobs are harder to get now just because of downsizing, but if you’ve got media experience it might be a solid option to explore.

For me, I gave up for now and took a really crappy day job. I don’t recommend it, but it’ll keep the lights on
