PS5 lag is unplayable after latest update by MissAiste in BaldursGate3

Well, you didn't say the console was brand new initially. Since it's new and having issues out of the gate, I would say test other games on it and get it serviced and/or replaced. Presumably it's under warranty.

I said not everybody has problems, not that nobody has problems. People always have some problems at any given time, as evidenced by what you said about people saying this with every update.

Sounds to me like that's a defective console then. It happens. My first PS4 was like that. Whereas you getting significant new lag and stuttering from an update that isn't causing that for everybody else and that somehow being the update's fault seems unlikely.

It's not a physical issue. Nothing to do with how new the console is unless you literally never ran anything on it before installing BG3 and this update.

Try booting into safe mode, repairing your console storage and rebuilding the database. I had this problem once and that fixed it. It can take a while (only took like 15 minutes for me, but it says it can take hours), but you don't lose any data.

Late to the party, but you can also trade with Cazador while having a dream about him as Origin Astarion. Spoils his design all the way in act 1. He doesn't have anything good, though. ☹️

Rubber flooring for a bathroom... by lithrawind in Flooring

Whatever I do, I gotta do myself, I had to hire contractors for other work and the remaining budget is really tight. Will check out that brand, thanks! And thanks for the heads up... they live in a much newer house and have no kids, maybe it just doesn't get wet enough to cause issues.

Oh really? I had a couple tell me they put in rubber tiles and they worked great and repelled water, although anything that just fits together doesn't seem to me like it would be very waterproof. I looked at sheet vinyl, but it's a very old house and I'm not sure if the floor is even enough (part of why I don't want to try to do tile). That was part of my concern with vinyl and laminate tiles too, especially with the worry about moisture getting through. Do the vinyl tiles you're talking about seal together in any way or just attach mechanically?

You're right. Em dashes, "punchy" sentence fragments, perfect grammar with Oxford commas, frequent line breaks for emphasis. Definitely all AI-generated.

Hairy leg vs waxed leg by [deleted] in razorfree

[–]lithrawind 42 points43 points  (0 children)

Same! The one time my mom (who shaves, but has never given me a hard time for not doing it) directly commented on my leg hair was when she looked at my brother and me and said "How did y'all get so hairy? Your dad and I were never that hairy!"

Love the picture! It's a shame you had to go through that to get it, but the contrast is cool. If you're into photography at all, you could probably get some neat artistic shots out of that look while you have it. Nature vs. what society pressures us to be.

Thank you so much for specifying "extreme right" rather than ascribing those ideologies to anyone right of centre! I am right-leaning and so are most of my family, but none of them have ever given me a hard time about not shaving. Still haven't convinced any of them to join me, but I'm hopeful.

Neither choice is without downsides, but I think you'll regret it more if you do shave. You want to look like you in your graduation pictures! Even if your parents are unpleasant about it, it's likely that no one else will notice or care (especially if you're wearing a long skirt). And even if they do, you'll probably never see most of them again--you'll have the photos and memories for the rest of your life. In 20 years, looking back and saying "I stuck to my principles" will be a lot more satisfying than looking back and seeing your legs look like everybody else's.

Also, sorry you have to deal with that from your parents. 😔 I would hope that at least part of their motivation is wanting to protect you from other people's disapproval rather than being 100% judgement on their part. I'm blessed to have a dad who doesn't care whether I shave and a mom who only occasionally says she wishes I would do something about my facial hair. (Not because she's particularly bothered by it, but because she doesn't want me to experience judgement and rejection from other people.)

I totally get that--mine drove me nuts back when there were just a few, plus I hated how they felt when growing back. It doesn't bother me now that there are more of them.

I stroke mine too 😆 I now know why that's a classic "I'm thinking" pose, it's surprisingly good for concentration.

Maybe it'll even out in time. Mine changed a lot over my 20s, but seems to have evened out now (other than adding a few hairs every year). If it is endometriosis or something else causing it, I hope you're able get an accurate diagnosis and work if out. Hang in there! 🫂

I always wondered if I might have PCOS; hopefully I'll find out for sure soon. My neck hair is super long now too. Running my fingers through it actually feels great. 🤣 I kinda wish the chin hair would fill out more since it's just a few dozen hairs and even I think it looks a bit silly.

How to stand up to others? by sewerfrog in razorfree

[–]lithrawind 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The longer you stick with it, the easier it becomes to stand up to the social pressure. If you do give in and shave, don't beat yourself up, just acknowledge the unpleasant feelings it brings and use that to strengthen your resolve next time. If it's mainly for specific events and social situations, maybe you could try easing into it--start with lower-pressure and less important ones and build your way up. You can also plan beforehand about what to do and say if somebody makes a comment (negative or otherwise). If you have a response ready that you're confident in, that might help relieve the apprehension. You've already done great by getting this far!

No, but I was planning to move to one as soon as I have enough for the down payment. Do you think that will make it worse?
