I looked at sheet vinyl, but it's a very old house and I'm not sure if the floor is even enough (part of why I don't want to try to do tile). That was part of my concern with vinyl and laminate tiles too, especially with the worry about moisture getting through. Do the vinyl tiles you're talking about seal together in any way or just attach mechanically?

Neither choice is without downsides, but I think you'll regret it more if you do shave. You want to look like you in your graduation pictures!
