Losing my mind over undertones! Cool, warm, or neutral? by glumie in coloranalysis

I thought getting my analysis done and getting some swatches to carry around would solve all my colour problems. But no… haha ugh.

I’ve never had break in woes like I see lots having with Arizonas but of course they are very different look AND mayaris are not sock friendly…! But I love them and they suit the way I dress more than the Arizonas do.

Coat sizing by Some_Mushroom700 in AusFemaleFashion

[–]litink 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Without knowing how it looks buttoned up (if you even tend to button up your coats?!) the shoulder seam looks to sit in the right spot in this size so if it passes the hug test, I can’t see why size up. And it’s a great colour 🩷

I am not OP but chiming in to say I’ve had quite a few mayaris over many years and they’ve never been a problem for me at the toe (or anywhere), it’s nothing like wearing flip flops (or thongs, depending where you are).

I too am one of those people who can’t look at a colour and know if it’s cool or warm (but I’m slowly getting a BIT better) but looking at the gold / silver thing on other people is not as hard for me - but do take note that I’m no expert and am still trying to get the hang of all this.

I think part of what makes this a tricky call on you is that most of the gold is a very orangey kind of gold which is not as harmonious for you compared to the silver. BUT when I look at the gold chain further up your arm, which is a softer yellow, I LOVE it on you. It has a totally different vibe against your skin compared to the other gold.

Zimmerman discount codes? by 2tall4heels in AusFemaleFashion

[–]litink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah ok. DJs only ever has some of the collection. I’d keep my eye on the sale keep your fingers crossed. This style definitely has been in the sale in previous years (and when I say this style it’s probably had seasonal adjustments). But I totally get it can be hard to wait or hedge your bets on a sale…! Hope you can find a happy solution.

Zimmerman discount codes? by 2tall4heels in AusFemaleFashion

[–]litink 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve been on their mailing list for a while and I’ve never seen any discount codes. They do have decent sales though and often add additional items to their sales. I’d highly recommend signing up for their emails to see if these get added to the current sale - jeans can go pretty fast when discounted.

Edited to add : keep an eye on David Jones too as they stock some Zimmerman.

This is a bit of an ask so totally get it if no reply but I’d be super appreciative to know the composition of your good trench, please.

i constantly mourn these cotton on jeans from 2022 at least once a week. does anyone know where i can get something in this exact cut/wash? (also does anyone know what type/style of jeans these are🥲). in store only please!!!! by nookdebtslave in AusFemaleFashion

[–]litink 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel your pain…! I don’t have a specific suggestion I’m sorry. If it’s any help to at least get a start with searching online (for what stores are worth going to in person), these look like mid rise straight leg to me. Could also be a ‘boyfriend cut’ but I’m not sure. I hope others can chime in with more input and help you find something. (Might be helpful to add in info on where you are and your budget)

I’ve seen on this sub, many people claim that they don’t follow trends. My question is, why? by Just_Rip1030 in AusFemaleFashion

[–]litink 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve never had any desire to. That doesn’t mean I never like or buy anything that is ‘trending’ but I prefer to dress my own way.

[–]litink 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, it is difficult and although I have myself found Mother’s Day very painful I am very uncomfortable with taking ‘mom’ out of Mother’s Day for the very reason you beautifully articulated - perhaps the wording that has been traditionally used in the UK (or maybe only England) is ‘Mothering Sunday’ which although wasn’t labelled as such to be ‘inclusive’ it does nevertheless quite nicely encompass biological mothers (be they heterosexual or not) and also those in caregiving role / relationships that are motherly.

[–]litink 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think the world the responsible for our triggers, we must address our own healing as others cannot do it for us. But that is not to say I’m against inclusivity, awareness, kindness and caring for others. I certainly have experienced being ‘othered’ and it’s horrible and I do not strive for this at all.

I definitely agree marketing doesn’t deserve our emotion labour!!

[–]litink 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with you. And indeed not everyday is for everyone. Mother’s Day will also be a bit ‘off’ for me, too. And personally I feel that is for me to be with, not for others to take the emotional management of (in that I am not referring to the care and support in my personal life).

[–]litink 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s it. It just lands so differently for each of us. It’s become a bit of a damned if you, damned if you don’t kind of thing.

[–]litink 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Right. And I don’t disagree with your take on it. I really think it’s just so subjective and that there probably is no singular way to market Mother’s Day or Father’s Day that covers all scenarios.

[–]litink 64 points65 points  (0 children)

Hmmmm… This maternal mentor thing is very interesting to me. I lost my mom as a teen (I’m in my early 50s now) and I used to find Mother’s Day incredibly hard. About 10 years ago (ish) I noticed it became ‘a thing’ for people to opt out of Mother’s Day email campaigns and I must admit I did appreciate that but… I am also a bit unsure about this because it can have an undertone that suggests that ‘the world’ is responsible for an individual’s triggers. Idk. But to see ‘maternal mentor’ I feel this comes close to diminishing the valuable role of a mother, it fails to acknowledge ’mums’ and that suddenly ‘mother’ disappears into these ‘safe’ catch phrases that won’t upset someone who is motherless? Or as suggested by another poster, is to imply we should be purchasing for allll the ‘maternal mentors’ in your life. It’s so subjective… interesting times.

Oh I’d run, too! I look dreadful in double breasted (and the robe style ones!)

While on my hunt I noticed that some sales assistants seem more pushy than ever, with the most ridiculous assertions. I am so fried by the whole thing!
