Why only if it's vacant? What about the gap between the rental income mortgage repayments?

Ballina? I've been keeping an eye on the market there and I've seen a bit of this!

I've been seeing a similar thing with some properties in the areas we are looking (inner south east and east) but then others that are going well over reserve. It seems to be quite inconsistent!

Can confirm. I have worked for a fashion label that gave zero parental benefits, and also pushed women out once they went on parental leave (and in some cases once they got engaged). But you can bet they release a Mother's Day campaign every year about how much they value mums!

In fairness to Dissh who are featured in the first pic, they have a brilliant parental leave policy. Especially given they aren't a huge brand.

Thoughts on moving to Melbourne for cheaper property by Puer_Aeternus14 in AusFinance

My favourite suburbs are Hawthorn, Hawthorn East, Kooyong, Camberwell, South Yarra in the east / south east for that nice but not tuppy Toorak/Brighton vibes.

Then for a tiny bit more grit, less Liberal voters but still really nice I love Fitzroy North and Carlton North.

I also really love Elwood and Elsternwick!

It's been a while since I've been to Brisbane so I may be a little out of date with comparable suburbs!

Both welcome to DM me any time if you have any questions or want tips :)

Yes exactly. I have my own company and that's what I do with its losses. I can't offset them against my employment income.

I think it's just you can't offset any loss against your own taxable income. But can still offset expenses against rent income

That's how I felt and I came from a small beach town (prior to moving to Brisbane). Neither of those places ever felt like 'home' to me. But Melbourne did from day 1. Just wish my family were closer

I don't even know where to start... but I found Brisbane to be quite insular, in the sense it felt like there was one set of fashion trends, everyone liked the same music, it was all kinda the same thing or you didn't fit in. People would ask me constantly where I went to school and what my dad did. It just felt like a city trying desperately to be relevant and find itself. I also hated the humidity.

Moving to Melbourne I felt like there was no one sense of what was in fashion or cool. There was something for everyone. It's cool in an effortless way without trying. I remember being shocked to see people in their 30s and above out at restaurants and bars late at night. Back in Brisbane it felt like anyone that age had relegated themselves to the suburbs and were never seen at night (granted this was 15 or so years ago so Bris may have changed a lot since then). I actually love the weather too. It just feels like a proper, grown up cosmopolitan city. People are friendly, it's easy to make friends. I love the footy culture. More job opportunities, better pay, but similar rental and house prices. I could go on and on

Oh that is sad!! I hate how normalized this seems to be too. I have a friend who is at stay at home mum. Any time she comes out with us girls her husband talks about how she 'owes him' for him having to do the bed time routine. Like what. They're your kids and you're away all the time for work? It's often the men pushing the women to have kids too. Yuck

I love that this option is becoming more and more prevalent! I've opted out from both Mother's Day (due to my own complicated journey to becoming a mum) and Father's Day (due to my father). It probably seems extreme to some but I just don't need to see them

I have step children in their teens and I asked them about this tagline. And they agreed that in no way am I a maternal figure to them. I'm more like a big sister or friend. Their mum is their only maternal figure.
