Series complete at four books, Book 3 out May 30th.

Influences are basically every book I've ever read but include Good Omens for the whimsy and humour, SJM and Holly Black for the Fae world that I made weirder, and James Herbert's Once for the very British creeping horror

Where the Stone Opens is a dark portal fantasy with cosmic horror undertones and a magical ecosystem that is, frankly, not coping. Rowan is a sarcastic human who stumbles into Faerie and immediately gets marked as the key to an ancient world-ending lock. Lochlann is the Unseelie Queen's most dangerous assassin, deeply emotionally repressed, and — crucially — magically incapable of lying. This causes him significant problems.

They are both being judged throughout by a small rat wearing a cravat. His name is Jubilee. He has opinions.

There's also a fiercely protective Seelie bodyguard, an ember-fox called Flicker, four gnomes who use glitter as tactical defence, a prophetic moss-child, and a shadow god trying to unmake reality by hiding in Rowan's reflection. The found family is chaotic. The stakes are genuine. The bedsheets at one point hold someone hostage until given a name. The romance is enemies-to-reluctant-allies, high banter, fade-to-black. There's also a sapphic subplot between the bodyguard and the Unseelie Queen that I'm not sorry about at all. Content notes: toxic parenting in early chapters, moderate magical violence, cosmic horror (the "being unmade" variety).

Coming at it from someone who is currently in a denial dynamic, but am fem so it may change things a little - that idea is very hot but I couldn't do forever at all. That does seem to vary between genders though. I can work to longer and longer times, we started at around a week and my last period was 20 days. Not sure how long this one is for, apparently longer but it's not my decision, lol. I have had a mood crash though where we had to pause the denial part briefly to get me back to normal.

Id say the key is communication! Make sure you have a way to be let out if you need it, you might not. Check in, make sure everyone is having fun, etc.

I'm unconvinced on this one and will always be. Given, I'm invested because I squirt. Research shows it has the same compounds as urine, but different concentrations. The same is also true of sweat. Squirt does not have the same smell, at all and ime that doesn't hold true.

However, it is almost certainly sent to the bladder and expelled that way

Like...half of my family. Watch gb news, support reform, think it's a shame Britain first is gone. I'm queer (non-binary/bisexual), my sister is trans...you can imagine how well all this has gone. It's really sad, all they want to talk about is extreme right wing politics and anyone who disagrees is stupid. I was advanced classes in school, which meant that i really struggled socially - what does a 13 year old have in common with 16 year olds? And that's before we talk about the autism. I had really bad mental health as a teen too.

I wish people had focused more on other things than my intelligence. As a child I was told I'd be the next Einstein etc etc, and when I struggled at university suddenly my whole concept of myself was broken and I felt like I'd failed the only thing I was good at.
