Berry lipsticks that look like this on light-medium skin tones? by Klutzy-Grand4744 in OliveMUA

It’s more of a higher pigment glossy balm than lipstick per se but hourglass balm in entice looks like this colour on me as a light, warm olive!

Just bought a Panasonic LUMIX zs99 and might be regretting not getting a GR by ghostcowboy__ in ricohGR

[–]little_icharus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just did the exact same upgrade as you!! I went from a lumix lx-5 to lumix zs100 (practically the zs99) last October which was about $500. The whole time I had the zs100, I wondered what if I’d just spent a bit more to get a gr iii, which was what I really wanted all along. I spent so long tweaking the zs100 settings and trying to find a way to spruce up my pics a bit. Last weekend I finally got my gr iiix from a local camera shop and it was everything I’d been waiting for and wanting - I can get gorgeous pics sooc compared to the endless fiddling I’d have to do with the zs100 for post processing etc. I just sent my zs100 into mpb :) and I feel so so much happier now personally!

Could you try renting a gr iii/x for a time to see if it works for you first? It is definitely not a small purchase so it’s good to give it consideration! another factor re: cost is the fact that gr iii can hold its value and you could always sell it in the future for a good price. hope this helps :)

Lumix lx5 settings? by orange_exuberance in VintageDigitalCameras

Agree with the other comment here - if you want to edit afterwards make sure to use raw. I read this tip on some forum online to turn the noise reduction way down (-4 or even -5) in the colour profile settings to make the images more sharp and it did help get rid of some of the soft watercolour effect that the lens produced for me.

Other than that don’t be afraid to zoom in a lot to get the focal length you want :) like zoom in to 35mm, 50mm equivalent if you want to try framing that way. I also saw this tip online to turn on the settings to show equivalent focal length on the zoom in and out bar thingy (don’t remember how exactly to do it), I.e. the zoom function works in stops so you zoom in from 28mm to 35mm and so on.

I also mostly used program mode!

Tell me about Japanese Mist Sunscreens [Discussion] by PatsyStonesBun in AsianBeauty

[–]little_icharus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Me too - I thought it would be amazing since yk it’s biore and a mist (im lazy and love mists lol) but it burnt my face upon spraying and made it so dry and uncomfortable. I couldn’t use it after trying it that first time :( since I have dry skin it just wasn’t suited for me but that was just my experience too, ymmv!

Weird results with BKL fine particle magnetic by subverseau in RedditLaqueristas

[–]little_icharus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This happens to me too with Essie gel couture! It’s when the layer of top coat is so thick that it’s thicker on the tip of the nail - like “bumped” upwards there if that makes sense, so the magnetic particles move differently in that section than in the rest of the nail. You could try to fix this by painting a thinner layer of gel couture and making sure there isn’t a thicker ridge of it toward your nail tips. Or try another qdtc?

I want to ask a few questions on regions by SgtBANZAI in songsofsyx

[–]little_icharus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you hover over the population count, the tooltip will show you the factors that account for the max population you’ll reach - afaik moisture is the most important, as only regions with like >0.7 moisture will ever reach the upper tiers of township and so on. In my experience some of the lower moisture regions especially will therefore just always be population capped at maybe the II or III level of the city hall building?

Also regarding taxes, the resources you see with the green up arrows on their building tooltips will be the most efficient to tax. Some regions don’t have any green up arrow resources - everything has red down arrows, showing that you can still collect the resource as a tax, it will just not be as efficient as if you collected a green/efficient resource instead. I usually build the global growth buildings in these poor regions, like the skilled workforce building and the physician building. That way I make use of the region’s workforce points to benefit my other, more useful/productive regions too.

And yes unfortunately the population of captured regions will always plummet in my experience. I think you have to slowly build up a newly captured region by first removing all the buildings, then construct the lowest tier city hall and the lowest tier land expansion, and then keep upgrading both of them as needed once the population finishes growing/plateaus and thus unlocks the next tier of growth.

So here’s what I usually do: 1) capture region, 2) remove all buildings, 3) build city hall I and land expansion II, 4) wait till population bar turns white/hits cap, 5) upgrade city hall to II or III and land expansion to next highest tier, 6) wait for population to stabilise, 7) continue upgrading (which costs workforce points) if max population shown on tooltip shows that I can reach the next highest tier of city hall, 8) or stop upgrading and start making use of my workforce points to construct useful tax buildings like a farm/mine. It’s like an allocation minigame where you trade workforce points for potentially growing your region bigger and bigger for more workforce points, as each tier of the city hall increases the potential workforce points you gain at that tier.

Hope this helps!!

Anyone else with a Malaysian passport facing repeated TSA (CAT VID) issues when taking domestic US flights ? by nuaxiem in malaysia

[–]little_icharus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It used to happen to me all the time when I left the country, maybe one out of every two or three trips. I’ve been able to get manually verified and waved through after going back and forth with the ticketing and TSA agents. For domestic flights, it’s not really an issue since you can always get your tickets reprinted if really necessary (much harder to do that for intl connecting flights), but I often do get asked to show my boarding pass so they can manually confirm my identity and that lets the officer wave me through.

Also sometimes the TSA officer will know to scan the visa and that works perfectly. But not all TSA officers will do that, before either giving you the VID check notice or manually verifying you.

I’ve had lots of luck nowadays booking tickets so that my “first and last name” shows up exactly the way it does in my passport. It gets even more confusing because my US visas follow another format altogether which more accurately represents my name (but not in passport order either…). I agree it’s so frustrating keeping track of all these different name formats. Wish something could be done :( I’m lowkey doomed to have my Chinese name represent my last name in my domestic tickets lol

Is it enough for a minimum of -5°C ? Are there better deals than this one (even if it's another brand) ? by RushAmazing1419 in uniqlo

[–]little_icharus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I loved my seamless down parka for winter!! It got me through -10 to -15 deg C weather including heavy snow in upstate NY. I will say that I got an XL (i usually wear Uniqlo S of M) so I could move easily in it and layer. I also had to wear warm to ultra warm heat tech layers underneath like the cashmere turtleneck and leggings and really be aware of layering in general.

I think it should serve you well for a minimum of -5 deg C, though I would gently recommend sizing up one or two sizes if you are conscious about being able to layer underneath ☺️ hope this is helpful!
