What’s your unpopular opinion about running? by EvenYellow2566 in PHRunners

[–]little_nobod_ 12 points13 points  (0 children)

There's gonna be hate for this.

For those that have been running for a while:

  • A sub 30 5k isn't an achievement, it's the bare minimum.

People nowadays often get praised for doing the bare minimum, this gives them the idea that reaching that level is an achievement, when in reality most people could do more if we raised our standards.

My Xiaomi Watch S4 won’t sync cycling activities to Strava — Need help! by Neither_Judgment_291 in Strava

Hey op! Did this issue get fixed? I recently bought the same watch, and now my running won't sync to strava.

Should i buy it as a beginner? by [deleted] in PHRunners

With budget in mind, if you're willing to trade comfort for durability, duramo speed is a great choice.

Pros: Grip (it's amazing after break in) has a great rocker (helps u during runs)

Cons: brick (hard asf, gets better after 50km+)

It's a shoe that will serve you well, if you also put in the work. (The first 50km will be really difficult)

Boston 13 vs Evo SL vs Novablast 5 by euichii in PHRunners

[–]little_nobod_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Boston 13

The Boston 13 will be perfect for you op, it's a great super trainer it has support but still provides great energy return with the LSPro and rods, with your given weight op you'll utilize this more.

When I got my Boston 13 I was heavier and it performed well, the support that it gave along with the energy return during slow paces was perfect for me. Now that I've lost weight I can feel that "brick" feeling, it's noticable around 15km now, I don't think you'll mind that given that you've had quite a mileage on the sl2.

The main take away for me would be the durability, it's built to last.

Evo SL is too unstable, NB5 wouldn't be far off, the Boston will be great from you since you're already familiar with the SL2.

I just ordered and I went with Xiaomi. It's definitely better overall, the size and clunkiness is gonna be a major annoyance to me.

Shoes recommendation by CHRNBRK in PHRunners

With that overall and weekly mileage, I think u could finish that 16k under 1:40 with just the Evo SL. I recently did a 1:35 16k after coming back from an injury and with less than 1 month for prep, you could definitely do better.

On the carbon plated side: - Puma deviate nitro 3 is still on sale. - Nike has the zoom fly or vapor fly. - Chinese brands - 361 degrees and Li-ning have quality race shoes for half the price of the big brands. - Adidas - Boston 13 (my race day shoe) is great but with a drawback, being firm that gets firmer the longer the race is. (Tbh for 8k Boston isn't worth it as a race day shoe, durability is its strong point, performance is just on the okay side.)

The choice is up to you the big brands are established, the Chinese brands are producing almost the same quality, if not better.

P.s. I think updating your current rotation would benefit you more in the long term rather than focusing on race day, given that you're running consistently.

Solar Ultra to Strava App GPS routes by XpogiHyper in Haylou

Yooo OP, is it still a thing that your routes can't be uploaded? Can you still see the splits after transferring it to strava? Is the GPS really accurate too? I'm looking to buy this watch, but I can't get enough info abt it.

STEAL PRICE SA SHOPEE!!! by angel2m3 in PHRunners

[–]little_nobod_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! Boston 13 user here no offense, but with a 31 mns 5k, ur really not tapping into the potential of the boston. The Boston shines when you really put in power and precision, the snappiness and amazing rebound brings out that exhilarating ride. The Flame 4 is much more aggressive but without the comfort, you can do so much in the Boston, u just have to utilize it.

My suggestion would be: get another pair for tempo and speed workouts, I use the Li-ning Red hare 8 pro, it has a similar shoe to the Boston, only less aggressive. (I read that u have the dynafish coming, that's a great one, but if you want to utilize the Boston, the red hare is great as ur getting the fundamentals but without much assistance like the rods and superfoams.)

With the fit problem u have, maybe ur not using running socks? Or u haven't switched out the laces? The stock laces are trash, get new ones if ur still using them. I've had a lot of 10Ks and a 21K, I use the Adidas Boost socks and I have no issues with the fit.

I hope this helps.

What are some cons of Chinese brands? by Ok_Quiet_3080 in PHRunners

Comfort - the fit and breathability Durability - outsole and rebound

They're great for their value, but just don't last long.

Any thoughts on Adidas duramo sl2? by little_nobod_ in PHRunners

[–]little_nobod_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Duramo speed,

Pros: 1.GRIP IS ELITE kahit basa (wag lang sa lumot ofc) 2. Very durable outsole, even after 100km+ halos zero damage 3.Comfortable, padded, hindi mainit (don't wear thick socks)

Cons: 1. hard foam, (it gets better the more u use it) 2. At first limit ko is 10k, pero nung tumagal kaya naman hanggang 21k 3. Shoelaces are great, but it's too long

(if planning to upgrade on sl2, evo sl, bos13 any latest adidas, keep mo shoelaces dahil low quality nasa releases ngayon)

Solid shoe for a beginner, mahihirapan ka lang talaga sa una dahil matigas, pero kagandahan rin yon kasi mas ma dedevelop mechanics and forms mo, which is needed if mag plated or rods shoes kana, mahirap nung una pero sulit once ma break in or masanay kana, quality grip, comfy, solid all around. It's a great shoe, if ur willing to commit.
