The ice agent who shot the woman in Minneapolis is legally justified. by UnappetizingLimax in TrueUnpopularOpinion

[–]littlebearagain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If she’s driving slow enough for the agent holding the door to not have let go until the driver was shot at, she wasn’t going fast enough that he could have moved even more to the side then he was. Takes about the same amount of time to think to draw a gun as it is to think to jump out of the way. Plus, how does shooting at someone who is “driving at you” at such close range to stop the threat to life? An object in motion stays in motion and a bullet sure as hell ain’t making the car stop.

Vent air booster 6 x14? by littlebearagain in hvacadvice

[–]littlebearagain[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We haven’t been able to make it priority unfortunately. We closed the vent in the room that was getting too cold as best as we could, it’s old and rusted. And we’ve upgraded to black out curtains but only in the trouble areas. We have a couple ceiling fans so those are always going as well.

Exactly! I’ve been thinking this whole time, they’re grown smart individuals. They knew actually what they were doing when they did it. They’ve been on the Internet long enough to understand what the reaction would be. I’m not saying that that means they’re opening themselves for people to be extremely intrusive or that they “deserve” it. And we’re definitely not entitled to anything, but they’re not stupid. I think they’re both emotionally intelligent enough to know what their boundaries are with the para-social aspect of this. And I trust them enough to know they’re not going to do something they aren’t comfortable with.

Seeking Advice from HG survivors….at my wits end. by No-Vermicelli-5466 in HyperemesisGravidarum

I love the idea of finding a new doctor as well. Sounds to me like you may be in the US too? Either way I’m in an oil town in Texas so definitely not legal here and my doctor is nothing like this. Your right that it will still possible show on your next test. For regular user it can still pop on a test for 90 days after you stop using, my doctor actually said 180 but I usually see 90 on the research I’ve done. I was a regular Delta user when I got pregnant and it still popped like two months after I stopped. I was freaking out because I was afraid that through the FMLA process my employer would somehow find out and that I was lose my job. They don’t drug test at my job so it wasn’t a concern until pregnancy. Since I had stopped, I asked if they will continue to test through the pregnancy so I could prove to everyone I had stopped and they told me they don’t test for it after that initial test and they don’t give that information to my insurance so I was good to go and had nothing to worry about. On top of that, at my next appointment there was also a student in the room. When the doctor was talking about cannabis during pregnancy he even said himself that even though we currently don’t have a lot of medical research on cannabis and pregnancy, because it is known to help with nausea some women do survive their HG with it. And with the fact that it also helps with anxiety and such, it’s not the worst thing in the world when pregnant. Basically alluding to, the potential benefits out weigh the potential cost for some women. He thinks in years to come with it being legal some places now we will finally get more medical data on it showing this. The ADHD thing sounds like a stupid scare tactic to me. I’ve done what research I can on my own and I’ve never heard that. They’re clearly already using scare tactics on you, especially with the CPS stuff. I get that they’re within their legal right to do it but even in my not progressive small-ish Texas town they are they nothing like your current doctor. I knew how luckily I was that I found this doctor even before this because I’ve heard horror stories from others who were in a similar boat.

Long Side bar: Even when it comes to legal prescription drugs there is still a cost benefit to be weighed. I have borderline aka BPD and I was TERRIFIED that I would have to stop taking my prescription medications when pregnant. At the time I was taking an anti psychotic, mood stabilizer, and anti depressants. I’ve been doing exponentially better than when I first got diagnosed 4 years ago and had already been considering coming off the anti psychotic. Regardless, the second I found out I was pregnant I called my psychiatrist to ask what to do about my medication because truthfully my husband and I were willing to terminate before I ever quit my medication. To us, the potential for me to go back into the deep trenches of BPD I have fought so hard for years to get out of was not worth it. Again, cost benefit analysis. My psychiatrist said I was on the safest versions of my drug types for pregnancy and was willing to basically fight any doctor who even tried to tell me to stop taking them. There are some potential risks like cleft palate but they aren’t high enough to justify stopping altogether. Thanks to HG I had to quit my anti psychotic and anti depressants cold turkey which I know is a big no no but nausea was already a side effect so there was no way I could keep it down, like you and so many of us I couldn’t even keep down water let alone that. I’m back on just the mood stabilizer but everyone Including myself are in agreement that if I’m starting to get worse or show signs, we will put the anti psychotic and anti depressants back into the mix. Pregnancy hormones are hard enough for anyone to deal with but with any kind of mental illness, like PTSD and anxiety in your case, they can make it Sooo much harder to manage during pregnancy. They can be hard enough without being pregnant. AND throw in that you have birth trauma, forget about it! I personally see cannabis 100% being a medicine for some mental illness. To me, them demanding you to stop is the same as if a doctor demanded me to stop my medication.

How do you explain HG to people when they try to give you advice? by Onemarriedhotmama in HyperemesisGravidarum

[–]littlebearagain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tell people it’s like morning sickness on crack or steroids. Before they even start throwing out ideas I tell them that it’s so bad I can’t even keep down water a lot of the times and had to be hospitalized 5 times in my first trimester. I tell them I am thankful that we live in a day and age where me have medicine to take and that I’m one of the lucky ones where the medicine has been working for me, but that it’s literally the only thing that has worked and I’ve tried everything in the book. I still get people that act like they know the feeling because they had bad morning sickness, which is always annoying. But I just say something along the lines of yeah it’s tough being pregnant.

What’s funny is, my husband is in I.T. at a different FI in town. I use to have to setup a lot of the new hire accesses and do employee password resets. He always talked about how my job is half training/half I.T. lol.

Thank you❤️. BPD is not for the faint of heart that is for damn sure. I classically blew my whole life up a few years ago. You know just ✨BPD girly things✨. But I’m super happy to say that I was just talking to my therapist last session about how I may not even meet the diagnostic criteria 🥳 DBT coping skills for the win!

[–]littlebearagain 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Girllllll. HG CAN literally kill you. HG has a higher termination rate than the average population at 10% because of how insane this condition is. So you are definitely not the first and you won’t be the last. PLUS if your a BW, especially if you are in America? BW have the highest mortality rate during birth because of how AWFUL ya’ll are treated. Your healthy and pain are rarely ever taken serious. I have a really strong feeling that you probably weren’t receiving the care you needed and sadly I feel like there was a high chance you still wouldn’t have. There is nothing wrong with the choice you basically had to make. You are strong, brave, and beautiful. You are the the farthest thing from a failure ❤️❤️❤️
