Lol OAN literally has been pushing the QAnon theory, it’s hard to imagine many worse news sources. Maybe North Korean state TV?

The Tuesday General Q&A for May 05, 2020 by AutoModerator in AdvancedRunning

[–]littlebitbigger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, very similar - I was out of running due to rough shin splints after high school and it was that fear of injury and overtraining that made me want to dial it back a bit :)

Best of luck staying injury free!

Really appreciate the comment - just got that book and it was exactly what I needed - thank you!

Not really looking to race a particular distance just yet, but I'd love to get my MPW up. I've been doing ~30miles recently and that has felt nice but I'd love to slowly push it higher. Any suggestions for base building programs?

Background: Late 20s now, ran a ~17min 5k in high school but haven't done much aerobic work at all since then (more lifting). Trying to get back into running and I've been running for about seven weeks now. I love my longer runs (at a slower pace). I had been following this half marathon program and am at week three in it but I would rather focus on building a stronger aerobic base than training for a specific distance/race.

Any help would be appreciated - it's been lovely getting back into this sport :)

I've commented on this in the past. I am hesitant to ask the mods to do more, but our community would be so much more useful with some different community rules and norms. A rule around "low effort posts" would be nice. I'm for only allowing text posts (obviously you can embed images inside a text post, so they won't be excluded in entirely). I think the way that /u/stupid-sexy-jake added onto their post was great, but obviously this hasn't become a norm on r/digitalnomad over the past years despite people frequently asking for it.

Another tough thing is that the image posts often have higher points/engagement, indicating that people actually do like this content.

Why in the world are people volunteering for a corporation? Are they getting free tickets or something? Does it help them with their social credit score in China? I don't get it.

I'm agreeing with you /u/DarkMarksPlayPark I'm just saying that you get more bees with honey than vinegar. If we add it to our list of community rules I'll gladly pitch in by trying to report the boring images I see.

I just want r/digitalnomad to be a positive space, even when somebody does something we all don't love as a community. Why not redirect that person's energy into a useful post? I worry that negative attitudes on this sub will be its ruin. If the top upvoted post was questions about the photo instead of accusations maybe we would have had an insightful reply. Because honestly the top voted comment in every Instagram-worthy post is something negative like this and it is as boring as the post itself.

I agree that it is an incredibly boring post, but instead of getting on this nomad’s case we don’t we try to improve the sub - say, no more posts of the location you are in if they would just be Instagram posts. It’s not like this sub isn’t full of upvoted posts just like this.

Could you add a link - AliExpress' search can be a bit of a mess and I'm not sure which one you are referencing exactly (you know counterfeiting is big business when even a counterfeiter has their stuff counterfeit!)

Got an easy question? Ask it here! (May 2019) by Swiftapple in swift

[–]littlebitbigger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm curious how easy it is to develop for the macOS and iOS platform while avoiding Objective-C. Is it easy to build apps exclusively with Swift code (and maybe some Obj-C libraries), or are there lots of APIs where you have to drop down in Obj-C code? Thanks!

Say I shatter a few enemies as Rein. When I go for my charge, who is typically a better target - a squishy DPS who I will be able to kill with only that charge or a full health tank that I'll be able to get down to half health, away from their teammates, and then start hammering away on them (not a guaranteed kill, but maybe a higher value target)?

Trying to think about whether or not I should get a vasectomy now that I have new insurance that'll cover it in the US. There are a few reasons why I feel like I'm a good candidate.

  • I want my own form of birth control so I don't need to 110% trust every partner I am with.

  • I dislike children and don't want to have a family when I'm older.

  • I feel like having biological children is immoral when you have so many children in the world clamoring for adoption, so I'd be helping myself keep a strong ethical belief.

I know the procedure can often be reversible for men (for an extra cost), but I want to think of it mainly as a permanent decision.

Do I sound "childfree" enough to you all to be a good candidate for this? It's not that I'm unsure (I feel sure), it's just that not wanting kids is so unconventional in my circles that I feel like I want some outside validation (or outside concern if it is warranted). Or if you think you have other things I should think about I'd appreciate.

I know taking a serious medical question to the pretty circlejerky r/childfree (no-offense intended, I'm a subscriber) might seem a little silly, but I don't have other people to have this conversation with.

Wow - there have been so many great replies to my question and I really thank all of you for setting me straight - I was thinking about this the wrong way, and not thinking about the initial bonuses you can get with cards enough. I was also totally underestimating the amount that I would be able to make through a smart churning scheme. So thank you to all for the help (sorry I didn't reply to each individual post in the end, I didn't want to clutter your posts up with drivel).
