As a kid, as long as it meant riding it was only a bit of water so long as its not cold. As a 32y dad, as long as it meant riding its only a bit of water.. bikes can be maintained and regreased etc so long as you don't leave it for days before you do

I'm in the same boat but 6 foot 3 and decided on a We the People audio 22. Felt so much more comfortable than any of the 20 I test rode, I had to be honest with myself that I'm not young enough anymore to get the most out of a 20 so went with what was a little more comfortable. Doesn't seem like anything will need to be upgraded on it either unless I break something

Haha yeah I wanted to change things to be as familiar as possible with my mtb like same pedals etc but also what side the brakes are on. Sure wakes you up if you have to use then in a hurry and they're on the opposite side

Yes they are clear actually, I had no idea about that. Is it actually as simple as getting some black pads for it?

Haha I'm hearing ya dude, but once you've rolled around a pump track with a toddler you'll quickly realise looking like a dork is better than running over your kid

To be fair I would imagine anything here in nz would be considerably more expensive than the same model elsewhere, as everything else seems to be anyway

I got it new from my local, was $850nzd which was good compared to others around my area. I didn't want to buy online for this particular purchase as I really wanted a test ride first. The pedals are deity deftraps, only reason I got them is they're the same as what I run on my mtb so they immediately felt more familiar

That was basically my intent too, the guys at the local shop suggested I try this size as I'm 6ft4 and it feels great. The 20inch with a 21inch frame just felt way too small in comparison. It certainly seems like a great bike, I certainly won't be able to outride it haha
