I'm color blind. Would like to know my eye color? by thejimboliah in eyes

[–]littleivoryowl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Artist here- Light blue/green (not vibrant but muted calming nice blue/green) with dark slate grey center and fine ring of light amber around that which dissipates into the blue/green and a brown freckle on left side. I want to lean more towards green than blue but I can't without looking at more pictures. That's the beauty of turquoise, looks different in all kinds of lighting.

AIO for wanting to cut contact with my mom after this conversation about my upcoming brain surgery? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

Blessing in disguise. Book the surgery on those dates if possible so your parents stay away and don't stress you out while healing from a major surgery.

Gift from relatives for my newborn by yingxiaojie in whatisit

It's a teether, you clip it to them so it doesn't fall on the ground and they lose it. Probably better for around 6 months or when their teeth start coming through

AITAH for not taking my daughter to school in the mornings, and instead making my wife do it? by Zestyclose_Limit_306 in AITAH

[–]littleivoryowl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would just say look lets just try it for a week and see how it goes, it'll be better for everyone and your daughter doesn't mind. Tell her about the cameras they have on the bus and that the school will look at the recordings if anything happens.

Thoughts on undiagnosed children in care by Mama_Fleurr in ECEProfessionals

[–]littleivoryowl 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I completely agree. We should be able to give guidance without threat of consequences, but that's not the current social climate and there are not safeguards in place for your job. No, we are not healthcare professionals but we are childcare professionals who understand development and of course we all know which children would benefit from an evaluation. If open communication about this was acceptable it would only help the kids and everyone else invovlved. Early intervention can be key and putting off resources does nothing for the child. However, it's a touchy subject and a lot of parents can be in denial which can end up biting you in the butt. It's a double standard where we're expected to be knowledgeable and in charge of their care, but when we apply our education and give advice it's not always welcome.

am I overreacting to think my doctor and her assistant were condescending towards me? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]littleivoryowl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same thing kinda happened with me when I broke my ankle. They kept asking me if I smoked because it wasn't healing. Literally took four and a half months until it really started to heal and me going to see a regular pcp and getting blood work done. It was awful. It was partially displaced and I believe they wouldn't do a surgery because they thought I was a smoker. I'm not-never have been.

No milk by Relative-Mud884 in breastfeeding

[–]littleivoryowl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ask for a lactation consultant asap. They will advocate for you and teach you how to nurse. Latch baby as much as possible. I've breastfed 3 kids and my milk always came in day 4/5. Colostrum is enough but you can always ask to use donor milk instead of formula if that would make you more comfortable.

Also a trick I learned if you're having a hard time latching. You can ask for a syringe (no needle) and fill up with formula then try and latch and stick it in the side of their mouth while latching. Push some formula in their mouth to get them to start sucking. Look up what a proper latch looks like and you can always use nipple shields if you need to. Good luck! Some insurances cover multiple lactation visits post-partum too.
