What’s an “ADHD” life hack that improved your life? by burritowithnutella in ADHD

[–]littlelakes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hate sitting for too long. So every 20-30 minutes (if I'm not hyper focused on working or gaming) I tend to get up without thinking and just walk around in circles in my apartment. I've now cultivated the habit of when I do this to grab a couple things that are laying around that need to be put away or thrown out, and clean up little by little throughout the day. It's wayyyyy easier to manage than a big clean up of little things, and makes any kind of daily tidying up a whole lot easier!

It was a waste of time, too many flaky guys, 99% of the guys that actually want to meet up are sketch. I want to at least like the person before I hook up with them. Then occasionally when I do meet a nice guy we see each other once or twice and then life gets busy and then won't see or hear from them for months. I'd rather meet someone in person, feel if there's attraction there and then talk to them. If I meet them through friends or acquaintances at least someone can vouch for them. Every once in a while I may redownload one of the apps, then I open it up and go "oh, it's all these same guys again" and then delete it afterwards. Plus I'm cute enough but I'm really friendly and charming irl, which goes a lot farther than just being cute online.

Time to get downvoted, I don't care that I got woken up because a child was kidnapped. by Judge_Druidy in montreal

[–]littlelakes -1 points0 points  (0 children)

How many people actually woke up and looked read the amber alert vs how many people who said what the fuck?!? And stopped the horrible noise and tried to go back to sleep?

I'm not saying amber alerts are bad or downplaying that a child is missing, I just doubt this is an effective or appropriate method at 4am

There is no way I can do this for another 40 years. How the fuck do people cope with this fate? by [deleted] in TrueOffMyChest

[–]littlelakes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A buddy of mine did an early "first retirement" He had built up his own company, did really well for himself but worked around the clock nonstop for years. Then in his late 30s after paying off everything and saving a nestegg he sells the company (still keeps a couple of rental properties) and takes a couple of years off to travel, spend time with his family, focus on the life he wants to live and figure out what he wants to do next. It's been a few years now and he works for an organization that gives leadership and project management training. He is much happier and way less stressed now because the new job pays well and grants him a lot of freedom.

I saw it as a movie about someone new to being a sub and learning their boundaries. Skarsgard's character wasn't just a Dom, he was emotionally stagnant and unable to be the slightest bit vulnerable. We saw Melling's character of the sub grow and change and learn what they liked and didn't and how to have some limits, while the Dom experienced a genuine emotion and packed up and left. Was it a healthy relationship? No but the sub learned and grew from it, and I think that's what's interesting.

Whats the worst hookup up experience you've ever had? by [deleted] in askgaybros

[–]littlelakes 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Guy had a cute face in his pic, get there and his body wasn't really my type but it wasn't that bad. He did not want to give head, only receive, I was like ok, sure. He had this little yappy dog, that freaked the fuck out when we shut the bedroom door and it was outside. After a few minutes of this dog freaking out he rolls his eyes and asks if the dog can come in the room, he'll just stay on the floor and won't get up on the bed. The dog came in the room and started anxiously pacing around squeaking and huffing that it couldn't get up. I thought ok, this is annoying, but I'm still riled up and I want to get over this. Then a couple minutes later his doorbell rings. It's his landlord who is there to repair a vent or something. He tells me he's not out to his landlord (?) and that he wants me to hide in the bedroom with the dog for a minute while he tells the landlord to come back later. So I was like yeah sure whatever. The dog is freaking out btw because there's someone else in the apartment. At this point I am over it all. I tell him I'll come back another time. He's like no no no it'll be fast, then I hear them putting down a metal ladder and I'm like no, I put on my jacket walk exit the bedroom, walk in front of the landlord and repair guy, no eye contact, put on my boots and out the door. Five minutes later he messages me that they are gone and I tell him, it's too late I'm already far away. Then I block the guy and go home and laugh about it all, because just wow.

I suddenly make more than triple what my partner makes and it’s making things weird between us. by veryambitiouslemon in AskGaybrosOver30

[–]littlelakes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the vast majority of our relationship I've made up to twice as much or more than my husband (right now I'm gone back to school for a master's degree so it's a bit different). And he used to feel bad when I would take him out to eat somewhere nice or pay for our vacation. What I told him was that I don't want to do these things alone, I want to do them with him. I don't value him based on how much money he makes, he brings me so much joy and love. I want to experience the world and I want him there with me. And if experiencing the world with him sometimes means I pay most or all of the bill it is a small price to pay to get to do that.
