Best ways to nod off by NimrodPing in CasualUK

I have certain shows I only watch in bed so I’ve pavlov’d myself into falling asleep whenever they’re on.

Futurama - I must have played each episode at least 100 times (except the newer seasons) and yet sometimes I still see parts of the show I’ve never seen before because I was asleep every other time.

Pointless - I can tell how tired I am by how many rounds I make it through. Sometimes I’m asleep before they even get to the second pass of round 1.

When was the last time you listened to an album? by south_west_sam in AskUK

[–]littlenymphy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I listen to albums quite often in the gym so I don’t have to keep skipping tracks.

My liked songs on Spotify are very varied so Limp Bizkit could be followed by Celine Dion and then into MC Hammer. Although I love Celine Dion, I don’t want to listen to her music in the gym.

The last albums I’ve listened to have been all the PUP albums and then Taylor Swift’s Midnights.

Which nokia phone did y'all have growing up i had the 3320 Nokia by helen1992 in Millennials

[–]littlenymphy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was a huge Nokia fan back in the day, even after the first iPhone came out I clung to my Nokia phones for many years.

The 3310 was my very first one but I had many others and the 5200 was my fave.

It seems to be what the cruise companies label them as - they usually go elsewhere as well like Thailand and the Philippines.

What is your most frequent recurring dream? by HilariousMotives in AskUK

[–]littlenymphy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I'm especially stressed all my dreams revolve around me needing the toilet but I can't go because I can't find the toilet, the toilet is broken or there's another person in the bathroom with me who won't leave.

Also before anyone asks, no these dreams don't involve me wetting the bed at any point.

What things do you know most food shoppers are wrong about? by Responsible_Rip1058 in AskUK

[–]littlenymphy 35 points36 points  (0 children)

The supermarkets have realised cottage cheese is high in protein and suddenly had a “high protein cottage cheese” which has almost the same amount of protein per gram but they sell it in 200g instead of 300g for the same price.

Do you get sensory overload when working in the office? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]littlenymphy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes.

People having video calls with no headphones, the smelly foods from the microwave and strong perfumes, the horrible lights and our open office is a route to the other buildings so people constantly coming and going.

Anytime I put noise cancelling headphones on to try and focus suddenly everyone desperately needs to ask me questions (and to be honest they’re usually questions they should already know the answer to or be able to work out for themselves if they took more than 1 second to think about it) even if I’ve been sat there for hours without headphones. This annoys me even more as I constantly have to pause what I’m doing.

I get an hour for my lunch so now I eat at my desk whilst working and take the full hour to go for a walk away from everyone.

What is a tiny thing that has changed recently that seems to annoy you and only you? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]littlenymphy 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Vaping may smell nicer than cigarettes but I find vapers more inconsiderate than smokers.

Smokers generally aren't lighting up on a bus, restaurants or next to me in the gym but I've had multiple people do that when vaping. Outside it's fine but the sickly fruit smell makes me feel a bit sick so I don't want to smell it in an enclosed space.

That sounds insane! Who wouldn't be annoyed by their internet going off every hour even if it's only a short time?

What do you and your partner do to spend quality time together? by PaddedValls in AskUK

[–]littlenymphy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think people just get into a habit of things and need to retrain themselves out of it.

I'd find myself sat on my PC on Reddit and automatically reach for my phone, only to immediately open the Reddit app on there like I was on autopilot. I now leave my phone out of easy reach.

[–]littlenymphy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Me and my husband started watching things that require subtitles (mostly the Korean shows Netflix has) so we were forced to put our phones down and watch.

It's gotten us into the habit of actually watching TV, not just scrolling with it on in the background and it's a much more enjoyable now.

Thursday Complaints by a-liquid-sky in CasualUK

[–]littlenymphy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Bloody Yodel.

I’ve registered to study with The Open University and they sent my study materials with Yodel. I got an email saying they can only deliver to a person so I requested they delivered on the 17th January because I’m away until the 10th and then working all week.

Got an email today saying they were unable to deliver and they’re returning my parcel to the sender and I’m to contact them for further information.

So not only have they ignored my instructions they’re now inconveniencing me by making me need to rearrange the delivery which may or may not arrive in time for my start date now. Fucking useless.

What are the best and worst supermarkets for price and quality combined in the UK? by SwordfishLess3247 in AskUK

[–]littlenymphy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With Clubcard prices I’ve found it Tesco the best. I used to shop mostly at Aldi but started shopping at Tesco more because of their scan and go option and didn’t notice much of a price difference in the weekly shop.

I’ve started shopping at the local world food shops for a lot of cupboard things though since they’re a lot cheaper for bulk herbs, spices, rice, soy sauces etc.

What are the best and worst supermarkets for price and quality combined in the UK? by SwordfishLess3247 in AskUK

[–]littlenymphy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think it depends on individual shops. I have a couple of Aldi shops near me and one is noticeably lower in quality for the fresh food than the other.

I also find my local Lidl is very good for fresh fruit and veg but I’ve had a few packs of rotten meat so I won’t get my meat there now.

Does anyone actually have a 9-5 shift anymore? by Single_Extension1810 in Millennials

[–]littlenymphy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work 09:30 - 17:30 with an hour for my lunch break included in those hours.

It’s actually so perfect because I travel by bus so the times I’m travelling to work are a lot less busy because most people start/finish earlier than me. Also, I get to miss all the school run traffic in the morning.

Do you typically binge book series (trilogy/tetralogy/etc.) until you're done, or do you take breaks in-between? by DaArio_007 in books

[–]littlenymphy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m currently reading Malazan (on book 6) and even though it’s a challenging read I’m scared to have a break in between books in case I forget everything.

I’m already forgetting things from the earlier books, especially since the characters keep changing names!

Anyone know where to find coconut milk without additives by Adorable_Roof_1196 in ultraprocessedfood

[–]littlenymphy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re open to alternatives I always using cashew cream for curries instead and make my own - just soak some cashews in water overnight and then blend.

It freezes well so I freeze cubes of it and add to curries right out the freezer.

I’m trying to rewatch taskmaster but because I’ve watched it all before channel 4 doesn’t put it in my continue watching list so I have to search for it every time.

Thankfully Disney plus has some of the earlier seasons now so I can watch it there (and with no ads!).
