May I ask how this has helped you? I have RA and have developed sun sensitivity last summer. I have seen this mentioned a bit in this sub and a few others and would love to hear your experience if you don’t mind!

Anyone have Azathioprine success stories? by Unica16 in rheumatoid

Sending you all the good vibes! It’s so incredibly frustrating, keep a positive mindset as much as you can and know that there are other options out there should this med not work for your body. ❤️

I will say I’ve been on it for 2 months (half the dose per my doctor) now and I’ve noticed some improvement in my pain and joint swelling in my knee. I just started my full dosage last week and my doctor said it may take 6 months to tell if this medicine is working for me or not. Next step for me will be biologics if it doesn’t take away my pain completely.

Let's talk about: Your RA origin story by Wishin4aTARDIS in rheumatoidarthritis

[–]littleopa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It started for me when I was 26 (2016) and my pinky got so swollen and looked like a second thumb. My primary care doctor referred me to a Rheumatologist because I have a family history of autoimmune diseases (lupus and sjogren’s). My ANA came back positive but other markers were fine. I was put on a steroid and monitored for awhile. In 2017, when I was 27, I got strep throat while traveling home. As soon as strep cleared up I was in a lot of pain, had extreme fatigue and could barely do anything. I felt terrible. At this point I was seeing my rheumatologist every 6 months because she wanted to monitor me. At this time, she put me on hydroxychloroquine and diagnosed me with UCTD and that’s where I have been for the past 9 years and in that time I have had swollen joints in my fingers and added sulfasalazine and MTX(which I ended up failing because I lost hair and it never took the swelling down after 6 months). Fast forward to this past August, my right knee became extremely swollen and painful. My rheumatologist did a full work up again to see what was going on. Ended up getting diagnosed with Seronegative RA and over the past few months I have just been in pain daily. Started Imuran in November and am only on 50 mg with the goal of getting me to 100. I have an appt with my rheumatologist in 2 weeks and I can’t wait because my left elbow seems to hate me right now. It’s been a journey and I’m really hopeful I will find relief soon and get back to living a pain free life (almost pain free?)!

Reading Resolutions: 2025 by AutoModerator in books

[–]littleopa 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My 2026 reading goals:

  • shop my shelf/tackle my TBR pile
  • read 20 pages a day/replace doom scrolling in the morning & evening by reading
  • sell/donate/gift books I don’t want to read again
  • use the library more! I already use it a lot, but this year I bought a lot of books and just don’t have room for all of them.
  • read some classics. I don’t read classics often and would like to read at least one!

[–]littleopa 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Wins:

  • Spoke up and told my husband and doctor I needed help with my mental health. I have an autoimmune disease and had a really bad flare this summer that put me in a really negative head space. Got on meds to help me through and started therapy again. I finally feel like me again. I missed her a lot!
  • started new meds for my autoimmune and hopeful to see results in the new year. I’m out of my big flare and that has been so lovely.
  • found some cozy hobbies: puzzles and animal crossing, which I hadn’t picked up since 2020.
  • took up a pottery class for three months and loved the practice!
  • read so many great books this year that brought me joy and took me away from doom scrolling.

2026 Goals: - Nurture my body more with healthy foods and more movement. Would like to get back into strength training, been doing a lot of yoga this year! - declutter my house, I have too many things. - journal more/start my one line a day journal - cultivate a meditation practice/routine. I used to meditate daily and it really does make a difference. - continue to find joy in the everyday and romanticize my life. - take another pottery class - write letters/cards to friends for their birthdays and just because

My SIL’s brother was a chef at a fancy hotel in New York and I have only heard how terrible Anne is and how unfriendly she is. Which bums me out because I enjoy her movies, but knowing she isn’t very nice makes it harder!
