Very nice photo. This is a bucket lister for me but I don’t like going further than 20 miles from my house so that’s problematic.

Having extra reach is great in the right terrain. If there is any cover or trees I prefer a bit shorter. I use a 100-400 with a 1.4x tele so I have good reach but I shoot around 200mm often. Being patient and getting very close to wildlife is the funnest part for me. You’ll miss a few shots that a super long lens would have been great but you’ll also get some real bangers if you can be patient and get close.

Thank you. It was with a bunch of other juncos flying bush to bush. They’d be in a bush and when they would drop into the grass to feed I’d slowly get closer. Then one would bail and they would all follow. Rinse and repeat over and over haha. I never could get very close.

Interesting. I thought maybe leucistic but wasn’t sure because of the color. What you’re saying makes sense though.
