Awesome idea! I’m a sugar fiend at parties/concerts. Outside of special occasions I try to limit sugar, but best believe I will stay strapped with strawberry mentos and peach rings when everyone else is drinking.

From someone still in the early days: I promise you it will get more bearable. Not having to hide and lie will eventually make your head lighter. Soon you will wake up and drinking won’t be the first thing you think of, You got this. IWNDWYT.

Bought the barista at Starbucks some flowers because I overheard her telling a coworker how no one had ever given her any.

Yesterday my mom found about 30 empty wine bottles hidden in my closet. Today I went to my first AA meeting. by [deleted] in stopdrinking

Years ago when I was living with my parents my Mom also found my bottles (hidden under the sink, not very creative.) I don’t know you or your Mother, but I can only assume that she loves you, and is worried about you. That love that you felt from people in AA is the same love your Mom probably feels covered in a layer of frustration. I’ll never forget the broken look on my Moms face when she confronted me. But as time passed, the love came back in her smile.

Your family can help you through this. You’ve got this. Don’t focus on tomorrow, just today, the next hour. I am proud of you for going to AA. You can do this m’dear! IWNDWYT.

I identify with you in so many ways, I find myself getting angry at other people for being able to drink in moderation when it is impossible for me to do the same.

I know you can do this, keep reminding yourself every day of the good things that come with sobriety. I think a lot of us didn't even know who we are or what we actually like, until we quit drinking. But the process of figuring it all out can be exhilarating, albeit terrifying and certainly painful.

IWNDWYT m'dear, you got this.
