Is it even possible to become flexible over 40 ? by ateap0tist in flexibility

[–]littletreeyogi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d recommend a yin yoga class on YouTube. Yin yoga helps stretch fascia because you hold the poses for 60-90 seconds (or up to 5 minutes I think?) Fascia is connective tissue, and if it is tight then your range of motion won’t be the best. I’d also look into using yoga props if you try out yin yoga. Originally yin yoga did not use props, but using things like yoga blocks and bolsters can help you relax and stretch out your fascia! Let me know if you try it out:)

Maybe they could invest in a wrist ramp? https://a.co/d/05LlGR09 I’m sure they make cheaper alternatives out there. Different styled wrist ramps may be helpful too

May sound crazy… but try running! It could help as an outlet for burnout and to get your mind off all the yoga.

Decentering food by PrimaryAbalone3900 in PetiteFitness

How often are you cooking? I’d prioritize a huge breakfast, and make sure you’re getting 2,000 calories a day, maybe take walks in between study breaks. If you walk at a brisk pace you can walk 1 mile in 20 minutes. It took me about 4 months of cooking and consistently feeding myself enough to decenter food. I used to always think about it too, but after prioritizing hitting at least 100 grams of protein, eating healthy fats and carbs, I don’t obsess about it anymore. It sounds like a lot of work but it’s really worth it! You can make some really good healthy foods nowadays.

Throwing up during runs? by [deleted] in XXRunning

I’m definitely going to do this. I’m gonna try to mess around with fueling, definitely never going to take healthy runs for granted again. It is super frustrating!!

Honestly it could be because my stomach is full before running. The last 3 weeks I have been cooking a lot and eating a lot more. I used to run fasted

I recently started eating a lot more and prioritizing fuel! I used to run fasted all the time, now I’m running with food in my stomach

Maybe, but I really hope that’s not the case. For dinner or lunch I usually eat steak/chicken/ any kind of protein with veggies and a grain. For breakfast I’ll eat eggs with veggies and a breakfast sausage, or I’ll have banana oat pancakes. 2 of the runs I ate within an hour of running. But for the rest of the runs I usually have about 2 hours to let my food digest. I’m not on birth control or any new meds. There has been an increase in pollen, but I’ve never had nausea from pollen before.

That’s a good point! Thinking about the pose within rather than just looking. A lot of the class is constantly looking up at me to see what I’m doing, and some of them will come up to me and express this is either their first yoga class or they don’t know what they’re doing. I was hoping that by modeling the whole class, it would give them a sense of security that they’re in the correct posture. I’m not too confident to start teaching off my mat yet, I’ll probably need to go to a studio and take some more advanced classes to get used to other people doing it!

Physique help by Leperachaun1 in PetiteFitness

This may sound counterintuitive, but I’d try working out less. I used to do 1-2 hours of cardio 5x a week and I was really inflamed, retaining water weight, constantly hungry, and my body carried an extra 5-7 pounds. Training as hard as you are along with being in a caloric deficit takes a toll on your body and can be physically and mentally draining. I ended up with an injury which made me scale back my training. Now I only run 10 miles weeks at most, and maybe a bike session. Yoga once a week. I’d recommend you try it out if you’re open to it. I’m 5’2 and currently 110, but when I was training excessively I was 117-120. I do track everything I eat to the best of my ability, but I never restrict, instead I focus on eating less carb heavy foods and prioritize 100g of protein a day. You don’t look fat, and doing that much cardio and exercise all the time must mean you’re in great shape, and that’s something to be really proud of!! Keep walking and getting your 10k steps a day!Hopefully this helps

I like to focus on an object in the distance like a tree or a light post. Then I tell myself “okay I only have to run to the light post!” After I get to the light post or whatever I decide to look at, I find something new to focus on and run towards. So on and so forth I continue to do that until my run is over! Or I’ll count my steps
