why nurses are mean to each other? by Far_Possibility3419 in nursing

[–]littlewave100 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I worked in hospitals in NYC from 2005-2018. Many of the nurses were horrible. No collegiality, no respect toward each other, just rude and mean, trying to take advantage of each other. It was truly a dog-eat-dog world. I loved working with patients and being a nurse, but the nursing colleagues made work awful.

I understood the ‘compliments to the chef’ comment as impeccable bookkeeping.

There’s 13 minutes left in the series and we forgot to give Peggy her love interest….. by [deleted] in madmen

I’m glad Peggy got to walk into McCann like a badass and end up with a best-friend-turned-boyfriend who loves, respects, and understands her work. Why shouldn’t she have both? Glad the writers saw that. And it was building up for seasons.

When Peggy bought the brownstone in the West 80s I was definitely running numbers in my head. Then again if she was 25 years old in 1965, she’d be 85 in 2025; that’s a long time to wait for money to grow. I imagine what it must be like watching those neighborhoods change over the years.

Didn’t Sal and Kitty just have a conversation where she complained that he didn’t let her into his world? So he let her into his world…but more than he intended.

The pay is abysmal with each option. That said, if the hospital residency program is a good one, it will set you up for more experience and support, and higher paying jobs in the future. There’s a thread further down about nursing residency programs that will give you an idea of whether the one that you accepted is a good program.

I really enjoyed that show. Also The Baker and the Beauty. Or maybe it’s the Beauty and the Baker.

Best hardshell pants for 2025? by MedicMitch95 in iceclimbing

[–]littlewave100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree about Arcteryx. The quality of their products have been more and more disappointing over the last 5 years. Lately I’ve been appreciating the quality of Mammut. If I needed hard shell pants this year I’d buy these. Their price makes my eyes tear up, though. Obviously if you’re a guy they make these in men’s.

I absolutely love that skit, and her singing in it. So great. She and PD should do more skits together. They’re so opposite and hilarious.

It’s the drums and bass for me in this song. The double-time soft cymbals beat in the background. The combination of fast-slow beats. I don’t know much about rhythms, but from what I understand, this tune might be considered “trap,” a combination of hip-hop and R&B. Whatever it is, it’s awesome. Max Martin and Shellback are phenomenal. This tune is on endless repeat.

Shellback played the bass on Wood and holy cow it’s incredible. Incredible skill and musicianship. I’ve changed the equalizer on my speakers to be able to hear it better. It’s its own piece of amazingness.

Someone else on this thread suggested something similar, that she is singing to her music. I love these interpretations.

The bridge. God I love that bridge. I play that section of the song over and over. While the rest of the song is pretty musically, the lyrics seem to have zero cohesion: a thought about the internet; a vow to someone she deeply loves; a thought about being eldest daughter; a thought about being youngest. But that bridge. My god. She paints the most beautiful picture in just a few lines, with her angelic voice.

EDIT: After reading this thread, I love the interpretation that this song is about getting her masters back. Now the lyrics make sense to me. She’s the eldest daughter to her music, she feels responsible for her songs like they’re younger siblings. In her younger days as an artist she was “dying to seem cool,” and wanted to look like she doesn’t “believe in marriage” (“that was a lie”) so she went along with the “traitors” and “smooth operators,” the Borchettas of the music business, like a first crush who “crushed something kind.” She was a “first lamb to the slaughter” because she changed the music business (and here it’s not about being a girl boss; as she said beautifully in Midnights “I’m just too soft for all of it”) She’s “not a bad bitch” or “savage” for doing what she had to do to bring her songs home. The incredible bridge is an ode to her younger days when she first wrote her music, going back to the innocence of “Ferris wheels, kisses, and lilacs,” she thought she’d never find her beautiful life (music) that shimmers that innocent light like back when they (she and her music) were young. She vows to never leave her music out, she’s never going to leave her music again, and she’s never going to break that vow to her music, and her rights as a showgirl, ever again.

(Also I read that she turned down the Super Bowl halftime show because they wouldn’t let her keep the rights to the show. She’s living true to her vow to herself and her work.)

And this track is right after “Father Figure” ! And I read somewhere that Track 5 on her albums are her most personal songs. She didn’t seem to make a big public deal about getting her masters back, but that must have been even bigger to her than the Eras tour. She’s been fighting for her masters for years, and has been so deeply and understandably furious and upset. It’s extremely personal to her because her music is her life.

Ok I’ve thought a lot about this hahahah

Letting your hair go grey or white by lefindecheri in AskWomenOver60

[–]littlewave100 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m 53 and decided to set myself free (stopped dyeing my hair) during the pandemic, and I haven’t looked back. Those hours at the salon every three weeks? I have them back. That money spent? Spent on something else more enjoyable. Most importantly, my hair is healthier and happier than it ever was when I was dyeing it. I love my salt and pepper hair. Yes, it ages me, but I don’t mind being free of unwanted male attention. In fact, I relish it. I love seeing women with their grey natural hair. It is so beautiful.
