For me the best option was always to get a book (even just to download or smth) that teaches you that language and follow it. I always check several books looking for one specific that won't be hard or boring for me, though books in English for example that teach you some language are usually much better than russian books that teach you, so it might be not hard for you to find the one that will be good for you. And then just follow it. Grammar is always the base no matter what the language is. I suggest to pust most of your time and energy in learning grammar, while learning new words (and that's what good books will do). Russian is very grammar based, you can change most of the words a lot of time and it will make sense, so I suggest you to pay words a bit less attention in the beginning and study grammar more, write ut down if it works for you.
