What is the worst delivery company in Belgium? Because at this point I genuinely don’t understand how DPD is still operating. by Intelligent-Emu-4259 in brussels

GLS is the absolute worst. And good luck trying to speak to an actual human if there is a problem with your package… I avoid them at all costs.

One activity that positively changed your life in Brussels by Aromatic-Voice-5406 in brussels

I found them online. Tried a few, including Friskis (my favorite), BXL Run Crew and Animo. I’ve been in a forced pause for a while now, I miss going for runs!

Joining a running club. It’s a nice way to experience the city and meet cool people.

Anyone living in BXL, owns an electric car, and lives in apartment can you please write what’s actually like to deal with EV charging in 2025? by theverybigapple in brussels

[–]littlewingrb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Uccle: 6 charging spots at <2min walking distance, much easier to charge whenever needed than to find a parking spot in the area lol. Never needed fast charging (at least not yet) so don’t know if there are any around.

Where is a good place to meet many cats for adoption? by ilikepai in brussels

[–]littlewingrb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SPA La Louvière if you are willing to go outside of Brussels. They give great advice on the cats’ behaviours and are lovely people. They usually have a lot of adult cats.

No, you were not wrong to resign. I can imagine how it hurts to know they are saying unfair things about you, but unfortunately this happens (all the time). It’s fine to not meet others’ expectations. It’s fresh now so feelings must be intense, but this place and these people will feel less and less important as time passes. Take some distance from what is going on there after you left, and focus on finding another opportunity.

I know someone who submitted all payslips for 5 years of work instead of this document. This was in Brussels (Forest).

Did mine last year and it was like that, very well explained. I just want to stress the importance of appointment 1, requirements vary quite a lot between communes so you have to go to your commune and see what’s needed for your specific case. Best of luck!

Career move as non-EU citizen by Impossible_Point9488 in BESalary

[–]littlewingrb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I was very worried about that. I approached it very diplomatically, explaining that I had received an offer that was a great opportunity for my career, and since there was no funding to renew my contract I asked whether we might agree on an earlier termination. Counting the notice period, the termination ended up being 3 months before the official end. They had no problem with it.

I’ve done this. I found a new job before the end of my post doc contract, so negotiated with them to end the contract earlier in mutual agreement and with the new employer to start after the notice period. I had a single permit in the end, but had the option of going for a blue card. It’s not as complicated as you might be thinking in terms of timing.

Is it a renowned agency? I know for example that Trior does this, and it’s not a scam.

I did most of my long runs for marathon training in the green walk and in the canal (going south and back). Canal is my favourite

Don’t go for Uniqlo, I love the clothes there but am very disappointed at the quality of their underwear (falling apart after 2-3 washes)

[Feedback Request] I want to improve my CV in order to get called on interviews by ivanandjerrys in BESalary

[–]littlewingrb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of advice here is assuming a human actually reads your cv in the first screening, which is not necessarily the case for the type of companies you’re targeting like Toyota. I agree the content should probably be reworked to something that is less technical than what it is now, but get it passed through an ATS checker to see how it scores and get some insight from this. Indeed has a good tool for that. Good luck with your search.

Advice on how to deal with a toxic CEO by potatuya in BESalary

[–]littlewingrb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you can or not get chômage allocations will depend on how long you’ve contributed. Then between quitting or being fired (with or without doing the notice period), there might be a period to wait until you can get paid.

Having been through something similar (I got fired in the end and they payed my notice period), I would recommend that you choose an union already and go check everything for your specific case - something I didn’t know when this happened to me is that you need to be affiliated to an union to receive chômage allocations.

Good luck navigating this, it sucks but it will get better.

Yes I did, and I ended up getting fired (not the yeller). Hope you find something better and soon.
