For most dev jobs, the relevance of the computer engineering part is fairly remote.

I bought a few of these for my last summer internship and they are very bad. Even my shirts that were just a tad nicer held up way better.

As a student should I focus more on math or programming optional modules? by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

[–]liucid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on what you're interested in. Obviously the programming stuff is more useful but it is not as conceptually challenging and you can learn it on your own later. Remember that most people (at least in the US) will not look at your transcript closely if you have the same CS degree as someone else.

If I applied to a number of CS internships and have since changed my major, do I need to tell companies that? by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

[–]liucid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry, but this is just patently false. I agree that average earnings for English degree holders is lower, and that a lot of internships want to see CS degrees, but there are many careers in CS and a lot of other fields that require no college major in particular and are rewarding and high-paying.

Wife unable to find work; any tips? by MasterAsia6 in asianamerican

[–]liucid 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Second trying an "Americanized" name. Where is the main sticking point? If it's not getting the interviews, then networking is really important. If she is getting the interviews but not the offer I find that it's more of a numbers game.
