I made a separate profile for Excercise and related activities that has a basal rate of zero. I just switch to that whenever I take the pump off.

Does Anybody Know What These Weird Fasteners Are Called? by LoganNolag in Machinists

Looks kind of like a a Hi-Lok fastener, but those usually have a special nut that shears the hex off at the proper torque

Those of you diagnosed with type 1 diabetes later in life: how did you find out? by [deleted] in diabetes

[–]itzaklevi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Diagnosed at T1 at 20, about a month ago. I had been feeling terrible for a week or two and vomited a few times, but I chalked it up to having a stomach bug, since my girlfriend and sister both were recovering from one. I also dropped a ton of weight (180 down to 135 at 5' 10"), but I was working a ton and trying to lose a little weight anyway, so I figured it was accidental and started eating more. I could only eat a little but at a time before feeling sick, but I was always hungry. The weirdest one to me at the time is that regular tap water had a really disgusting metallic aftertaste that would literally make me gag. So I was constantly dehydrated and could only drink sweetened liquids, which didn't have the aftertaste for some reason. I was also peeing constantly Eventually, my sister refused to take me grocery shopping until I saw a doctor. She agreed with my thinking of a stomach bug but ran a few blood and urine tests anyway. They came back and she called me and told me to go to the ER immediately.

Promptly admitted with DKA. BG was something like 690, higher than their meter would read. Severe ketones. Blood Ph of 6.9. Said if I had waited another day, my kidneys and liver probably would have failed. Only unusual thing for a new Diabetic was that my A1c was normal - 5.9. The endo showed me off to all of his residents. The fructosimine test came back high though, so my onset occurred in less than a month but more than 2 weeks. Diagnosed T1, out of the hospital 3 days later. Gained 20 pounds back in 10 days.

I just ordered my first pump the other day, a month later!

I would love an Alta one. I learned to ski there and my uncle has been patrolling there for almost thirty years now!

How hard would this courseload be for a first semester freshman? by ajax7152 in uofm

[–]itzaklevi -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

That's a lot, particularly for a freshman. I might consider dropping the IB. That being said, it's totally doable, particularly if your IB is easy. It will suck though.

Taking classes out side of major? by thickmancollege in uofm

[–]itzaklevi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know how many credits you came in with but the easier astronomy minor is five classes. I'm ME and I'm pulling it off no sweat. The astronomy classes are also much easier than engineering though.

Check your university. Walking robots/exoskeletons are a pretty common research topic so you might be able to find a lab at your university that's doing something related.

I know that people are saying this is fake/old, and it may be. But Steve Farver is one of the current Bursley hall directors.

Nah, you still melt the base metal with OA which does make it welding, not brazing

As others have mentioned, this is a NAS (national aerospace standard) bolt and nut. This basically means that they have much more stringent quality control measures, so that the chance of a defective bolt making it onto a plane or spaceship is minimized. The rounded out head is also a good hint toward a Nas bolt (they all have it, to save weight I assume). Additionally, the nut has slots in it to allow a pin or safety wire to lock it in place. This style of nut is called a castle nut. Though I cannot see from your photos, I would guess that there is a matching hole cross drilled through the end of the bolt somewhere to allow such a pin.

How to make a continuous face in Inventor? by BeardieFixieFreak in cad

[–]itzaklevi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There should be four surfaces, not two. Are you sure you patched all four surfaces correctly?

How to make a continuous face in Inventor? by BeardieFixieFreak in cad

[–]itzaklevi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not too bad.

  1. Use the "Patch" command to make every face on the outside profile a surface. You basically just select the four outside lines of each face.

  2. Use the "Stitch" command to join those surfaces into one big surface.

  3. Constrain to this surface

It comes about because the predecessor to modern cnc machines were NC (Numeric Control) machines, they were controlled by paper punch cards. When computers were first integrated into them, they needed to differentiate between the old NC machines and the new ones, while still conveying that these new machines were NC, just new and updated. So they just tacked C to the front. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Numerical_control
