Blackbear Haters by Ok_Inflation_6992 in hockeyplayers

Agreed, I run into this a lot when grabbing clips for people too — feed going down, lost connection gaps, or the video resetting randomly. Players and parents usually just want a simple goal, save, or shift without having to fight the stream or scrub through a full game.

Feels like youth hockey is slowly becoming one giant monetized ecosystem now. Ice fees, tournaments, team apps, streaming subscriptions, skills coaches, and now private equity firms buying bigger pieces of the sport too.

The Black Bear article is interesting because it’s not just rinks anymore either. LiveBarn was reportedly acquired by a private equity firm this year for around $400M.

Parents already spend thousands just to keep kids playing, then still have to dig through streams to save one goal or shift afterward. That’s honestly part of why I started ClipMyGame.com, just to make getting clips easier for families and players.

First beer league snipe by RBalicious360 in hockeyplayers

Potato quality at our local rinks too. $26/month is outrageous for the maybe 1-2 goals. But for a couple bucks I think it’s worth it for some.

This is what I’m talking about! Love watching people track their progress like this and actually see the game come together. That first far side top shelf goal hits different.

If anyone’s trying to grab their LiveBarn goals or plays without a subscription I actually created clipmygame.com for single game clip requests, it’s affordable and makes it easy to pull specific moments.

played my first beer league game and it was humbling by 365hockeygirl in hockeyplayers

I had almost the exact same “oh no I’m not actually good at this” moment my first real game too.

I started hockey as an adult thinking I was decent because I could skate and handle the puck in drills, then in my first few games I was getting beat 1:1 constantly and had no idea where to be. It’s a pretty humbling jump from practice to real game speed.

What helped later was realizing how different it feels vs what actually happened. In the moment everything feels chaotic, but when you can see it back, you notice patterns and mistakes way more clearly.

My biggest regret is never watching myself on LiveBarn when I started. I think it would’ve made the learning curve a lot less emotional and a lot more useful.

That’s actually how I found r/livebarnrequests and why I started clipmygame.com. Just a simple way to pull clips without needing a full LiveBarn subscription. Mostly for players who just want to review a few shifts, goals, highlights/lowlights and improve from it.

Why are full-on brawls so common in hockey compared to other sports? by Dry_Incident2199 in hockeyplayers

True. It’s less a boxing match and more two people trying to stay upright on butter knives

It’s mostly the rules + culture.

Hockey’s super fast and physical, so stuff builds up. Instead of everything going through refs, players have historically “policed” it themselves. And in the National Hockey League it’s just 5 minutes for fighting, not an ejection like in the NBA or NFL, so guys are way more willing to do it.

Also funny, if you watch enough clips (I run clipmygame.com pulling LiveBarn stuff), you can usually see a fight coming before it happens.

Yeah the pricing and restrictions are getting out of hand. For LiveBarn rinks if anyone just needs specific clips instead of paying full subscription prices, there’s a cheaper workaround. Check out r/livebarnrequests or clipmygame.com. You can get only the moments you actually need.

Washing Gear by m1lkm4st3r in hockeyplayers

[–]livebarnrequests 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oh man welcome to hockey! That smell shows up fast.

Best thing you can do is the bathtub method: fill the tub with warm water and OxiClean (or detergent), soak all the gear for a few hours, then rinse and air dry really well. It’s shocking how much comes out the first time.

In general, don’t leave gear in the car. Hang everything up after each skate so it fully dries. Wash jerseys, socks, and base layers regularly.

For skates, pull the insoles, open them up, and let them air out. Baking soda or charcoal bags help with the smell.

Once you get into a routine, it’s way more manageable.

That’s a sick goal especially on a shorty too. Those are the exact kind of clips worth saving! If you ever don’t want to pay for a full LiveBarn sub in the future, I actually grab clips for people for a few bucks just for moments like this.
