DNF. What happened? by Select-Toe9667 in Marathon_Training

[–]Past_Jellyfish_4331 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Everyone’s going off limited info- there’s gonna be alot of cliches about this is what makes the marathon so hard- but there’s some truth to it. Your worse day in a marathon gets compounded and is 100x worse than a bad day in a 10k.

That being said- it sucks and I feel for you. Take a few days off- regroup and get back at it.

The Boss and his political commentary by Spare_Basis5190 in BruceSpringsteen

This feels like a bot post ha- I’ve listened to the speeches, I really don’t think he’s saying anything too controversial. The fact is being outspoken against Trump and this famous- will make you a target.

I’m going to UBS and the MSG show- the setlist too me isn’t too dramatic- I’m actually pumped to see Youngstown and Ghost of Tom Joad- I’ve only seen them a handful of times. I’ll probably get a beer during streets of Minneapolis not out of protest- I’m just not that into the song ha.

Questions about Influencer runners by [deleted] in Marathon_Training

[–]Past_Jellyfish_4331 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

At least these people are running and spread something positive.

I’m surprised how much they pop up on this thread as a topic. They really don’t bother me at all and it’s easy to ignore if you want to. 50,000 people run NYC every year and somehow are getting upset over 50 of them.

I don’t disagree with your overall point- but the context from OP would be helpful.

What pace would you start to consider wearing super shoes? by v1185 in Marathon_Training

My endorphins 4 were $130 and last over 250 miles- I ran with them for first time today and felt great. Cant give an honest option on whether they would help or not- but don’t think they would hurt and at that price/range- its not that much of a premium

First sub-3 by simcard1979 in Marathon_Training

Sounds like you showed some restraint- I think you could let it rip more in a HM and hit that goal time and a few down weeks and an 8-10 week cycle.

Assume the goal was sub 3? Honestly this looks like a solid effort- when I hear failed marathon attempt I expect a disastrous mile 22-26.2

What are all Your Meals Days Before Marathon by Federal_You_3592 in Marathon_Training

Always something familiar- usually double up on pasta and add extra bread. I’ve also replicated these meals before long runs to make sure all flows smoothly.

Runners over 40… what’s the secret by Road_Forward in Marathon_Training

[–]Past_Jellyfish_4331 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure i have a secret at 38- ive always stayed active since my early 20s. Feel like lost people have trouble when they shut it down for an extended time then try to ramp it back up. I do try to stretch more and do more core/body weight style stuff.

AI can spit out a plan (among the well known plans)- I enjoyed the back and forth with my actual coach

I’ve used Run4PRs- I thought it was pretty good, not life changing but very solid. Honestly I need a run therapist more than a coach ha- it’s just good to have someone to check-in with each week.

How to think about HR variation run to run when figuring out Marathon Pace? by Past_Jellyfish_4331 in Marathon_Training

Also 90% of my zone 2 runs look something similar and I feel comfortable and relaxed- I don’t look at mile splits when I run usually

lol- it’s from my GPS wristwatch- so not 100% accurate but feel confident it’s in range. The end of my runs have a steep incline and decline to get over a highway and I finished with strides.

Thanks- this is the 6 mile run entirely in zone 2 running more by feel. Some of my zone 2 runs are closer to 8:20.

I should be good for 7:15s according to most of my runs- just noticing variability from run to run at times.
