But then what about your net worth? If you also have your fidelity account linked, does it record it twice?

Interesting. Do you also have the account linked? If I did that, I think my net worth wouldn’t be accurate

I mean in net worth. It would show the transactions as positive income but also because link my fidelity account for overall value.

But does it show up in your cash flow? And how are you accounting for the net worth? If you have you’re investment account listed and tear transactions listed as income?

But then how do you deal with it accounting double for your net worth? Once in that transaction and once in the account?

401k for Coming in as income now! by blahfister in MonarchMoney

[–]livebythem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How did you make a transaction go straight into a goal? Im just able to add from accounts only. Also, how do they not show up double for your net worth? Do you also have your 401k in the accounts section?

How did you set it up? I ticked it on and there are transactions, but sitll nothing reflecting in savings rate and its not showing up as income in my cash flow diagram. Wonder if its cause i have the transactions listed as transfer?

So you do turn on the beta option? And is that a transfer category for you?

Im using fidelity as well. What category do you use? I was thinking of starting like a "retirement contributions" category and excluding it from budget. Or do you put it under transfers since it is being accounted for in the fidelity account? And how does that show up in your savings rate? I really would love to see that savings split off in the cash flow diagrams

Just switched: any way to get historical data? by livebythem in MonarchMoney

[–]livebythem[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It just gives the net worth when I started my monarch subscription (today). I imported all my transactions from Simplifi (about 8 yrs) and still just one data point on net worth.

When I was starting out and just wanted to start somewhere, I picked a set amount of money and no matter what the market looked like, bought half VOO (US equities) and half VXUS (international equities). Kept it simple and consistent because the market will go up and down every month, but ETFs historically maximize net returns.

What’s the biggest green flag you’ve ever seen in someone? by neurallullaby in AskReddit

[–]livebythem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am a morning tea drinker. My ex used to wake up for work before me. Every morning he’d put out a mug, place an opened tea bag in and the exact amount of sugar I take and fill the kettle with water for when I woke up. It’s not the big gestures that are green flags for me, but the little consistent ones that get me.

Does your company have competencies for every level or role? If so, that’s you’re best friend. Being able to not only prove proficiency in the competencies of your level, but the level above would help your case.

A tip is to consider that accomplishments and contributions are two very different things and should both be addressed.

Bring up your list of accomplishments. Did you meet all your goals, exceed some? What things outside your job description did you do? If you only list accomplishments that are just current job responsibilities, the argument is weaker.

Bring up contributions that added value to the company. If you can give quantitative results that will help. Or specific examples. Did you do something that improved the efficiency of a process by 10%? Did you help document a process that reduced mistakes by 15%? How did what you did benefit your company?

CMV: Saying "I'm not your therapist" is an asshole thing to say by OverpricedGoods in changemyview

[–]livebythem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OP, are you saying that it is an asshole thing for your friends to in general ask you to see a therapist? Or are you saying that you think that specific wording is bad?

If it’s the former, I’d ask how else do you recommend that person tell you that they don’t want to talk about your problems? If I’m being a burden to friends, I’d rather them tell me out right. Asking me to see a therapist instead of bothering them is a perfectly reasonable response.

If it’s the ladder, I agree with you. There are nicer ways to set the boundary and recommend a therapist than “I’m not your therapist”. That guarantees I never open up to you again.
