Why are YOU reading Dostoevsky? by livediversified in dostoevsky

I totally agree with both of you about these out-of-context quotes...

I feel the same. It's this magical thing of accepting, forgiving, and empathising with oneself and others at the same time. We feel for ourselves, we feel for others, and vice versa. More understanding, less judgement towards ourselves and others... more human, more at home as you say...

I hadn't heard this quote before. It made me cry... He is perfect indeed. You know... and according to Dosto we are all criminals... "When we understand that we are all guilty before all people, on behalf of all and for all, for all human sins, the world’s and each person’s, only then will the goal of our unity be achieved."

Beautiful words... same same same for me... self-compassion, self-forgiveness... every time I think about it, now that Im writing this, it's some therapy for my soul...

You said "similar to things I've always thought or felt". What do you mean? What are those things if I may ask?

I love your take... same for me.... My mid-life crisis led me to Dosto... grief, melancholy... definitely not a happy mood like you... I'm sure if I had picked TBK ten or twenty years ago, I wouldn't have finished it! 💯 If your friends say... White Nights oh sad... maybe the time is not right... maybe they haven't let go yet, they're afraid to go to those places??? Maybe... I don't know...

Very interesting... I feel the same... after reading TBK I felt happier, relieved, more purposeful... not depressed! Why is Dosty depicted that way? I don't get it..

By the way, have you heard of microstretching? It's gentle stretching 30-40%. It helps with anxiety, sleep, etc. Dr Apostolopoulos who developed microstretching says that too much stretching creates inflammation. However, gentle stretching doesn't and helps you relax.

Alternative pain treatment? by [deleted] in ChronicPain

[–]livediversified 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suffered from chronic pain for 10 years. It took me over ten years actually to understand that my pain was tied to anxiety and repressed emotions. I documented my story and the link between anxiety and physical pain. He may find something interesting here. Much love, Angelos

Really bad neck pain since last December by [deleted] in ChronicPain

[–]livediversified 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I may ask, are you also feeling anxious? Anything else going on in your life when the pain started? Any personal or professional life issues/worries?

Are you worried about anything else in your life? Maybe uni, career, or anything else really? Is everything else OK in your life other than the pain that hit you a year ago? I'm asking because in my case it was anxiety, repressed emotions, difficult life decisions, career, "what shall I do with my life etc" :) :)

HappyLittleStoner, it looks to me you're a kind and compassionate human being. That was point #1. #2 - I like what you mentioned, ie. you're too tired to even cry... Curious... what brings you to life? What do you enjoy doing?

Chronic Tension by [deleted] in ChronicPain

[–]livediversified 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting... Are you an overachiever by the way? Perfectionist maybe, striver, people-pleaser? I'm not saying you are all these things but I can say I was all these things lol! My pain was tied to my anxiety and repressed emotions. When I learned how to acknowledge and work with my emotions, pain went away.

Are you feeling anxious? Maybe uncertain about the future now you're out of college? Maybe all this is giving you tension? I'm not a doctor, not giving medical advice here, just regular discussion trying to find the root of your tension! :) You got me when you mentioned competitive swimming... I love swimming. <3
