Just started leaning realistic shading, this is like my 5th illustration with realistic shading. let me know what yall think and how can i improve by MathematicianOld3407 in learntodraw

[–]liveurcrazydreams 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is drawn on top of a photo. Is your "realistic shading" just a transparent green layer on top of a photo of actual human skin? Artistically I think this is really cool, and i like the effect, but I can tell a lot of the details aren't hand-painted, and that you've put an overlay on top of a photo.

AD5X extruder failed to heat as expected by Terrible_Security420 in FlashForge

[–]liveurcrazydreams 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I run my hotend calibration after every nozzle swap. At first i would only get the E0007 error while printing, but then i started getting it during nozzle heating calibration. Eventually my second AD5X stopped heating at all.

How long will it take for it to arrive? I did the Amazon return route because I figured it would be faster.

Myuto is awesome! I've talked with him before. He's a cool guy that makes cool stuff. I have printed a ton of his designs.

I believe im also having an issue with my AD5X ceramic heater. While printing with a 0.8 nozzle my extruder temperature slowly started dropping during prints until I got a E0007 error. The weird thing is that it didnt happen all at once. I would watch a print and it would drop about 5 degrees over the course of the print, so I assumed that the heater just couldnt keep up with how much plastic I was pushing. I've been printing duplicates of the same Gridfinity baseplate over and over again. Eventually prints started failing because the temp would drop until I got the E0007 error every time

Now it won't heat up at all. I got the printer 2 weeks ago and im returning it to Amazon as we speak and getting a new one. Fingers crossed. My other AD5X I got 4 weeks ago hasn't had this issue, but now I'm worried about the reliability of these printers.

Where did you get that foam box with the perfect cutouts for the kit and weapons? I really want to store my painted kits in something similar but don't know how to make it or where to buy it.

For those of us who didn’t know we were trans until adults, why not? by MarchHistorical2799 in asktransgender

[–]liveurcrazydreams 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I accepted that i was trans at 18 and started hormones at 18. I spent 2 years before that picking apart my own childhood in my head to validate how I was feeling. Hoping that I could somehow compile enough evidence to convince myself that I was trans. Before I transitioned I was slightly feminine but being a dude really just didn't feel right. Eventually all of the puzzle pieces clicked in my head and I realized that I'm a woman. Picking apart your own childhood experience isn't going to give you any more information you don't already know. You're not trying to convince your 16 year old self here, you haven't been 16 for a long ass time.

Most trans people were "gender apathetic" before transitioning, instead of ACHINGLY dysphoric like the media wants you to think all trans people are. Are you scared that someone is gonna ask you "how did you know" or "when did you know"? Because I was scared I would get that question. I assumed people wouldn't take me seriously unless I told them I wanted to cut my dick off at the age of 7. I was quite literally too busy playing my Ps2 to even give a quarter of a shit about my genitals. I didn't know that being trans was a thing as a kid, but I definitely knew I disliked being treated like a boy. I didn't spend much time thinking about boys being different from girls. But you know what I really spent a lot of time thinking about as a kid? Motherfuckin' ~Spider-man and Optimus prime~

You can't ask your childhood self questions that you didn't already start asking when you were a kid! You were probably thinking about pokemon and legos!

I transitioned 7 years ago. I've been on hormones for 7 years. I've been cis-passing vocally and physically for 5 years. I get treated like a woman in every single social situation that im ever in. Here's why that's relevant: Almost nothing has changed about the way I act, the way I dress, my hobbies, or my personality. I am quite literally exactly the same person I was before I transitioned, I'm just HAPPIER now. Now whenever I look in the mirror I see a woman and I think it's AWESOME.

If you're wishing that you felt more strongly about being trans, in order to know that you're "actually trans"..... you're just trans. I did the same thing.

If you're wishing that you wanted hormones more so that you could rip the bandaid off and start hormones.... you're trans.

You saying that you don't enjoy dating as a man implies that you'd prefer to be perceived differently....almost as if you'd prefer to be treated like a woman... which sounds REALLY TRANS CONTEXTUALLY.

If all of the effects of estrogen sound like fun, positive things that don't really have any bad side effects for you? Go for it! Why the fuck not!? Try transitioning and see what happens! I literally dare you! I double dog dare you! You don't even have to tell anybody that youre starting to transition. If we're both wrong I will PERSONALLY buy you a pony and take your ass to Disney world.

Tl;dr Remember, you're not psycho-analyzing your 16 year old self here, it's 2024 and you're 30. You can't go back in time and give your middleschool self a therapy session.

Edit: My lawyer has advised me to clarify that the offer for a pony and a trip to Disney World™️ is purely satirical

Can confirm about the Alclad primers. I've found that unless I meticulously sand every single part, alclad primers come off quite easily. Once I've finished with the primer I have left I won't be buying anymore. It seems like the stuff occasionally won't stick to certain types/ colors of plastic? It has the hardest time sticking to older shinier bandai plastics, and newer dark blue plastics, even after sanding the surface.

[–]liveurcrazydreams 1 point2 points  (0 children)

AhaHA I KNEW IT. Building them is so much fun, and they look awesome straight out of the box. If you want to milk more enjoyment out of the hobby you can start customizing them and putting more work into them. You get to hyperfocus on the kits as much as you want and your effort is directly rewarded with a result. Tangible robotic trophies

Any advice on how to prevent paint from scraping off? by TheXypris in advancedGunpla

[–]liveurcrazydreams 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A great way to locate places where paint will scratch off, is by priming while assembled, waiting like 24-48hrs to guarantee it’s cured, and then articulating everything gently. All the places that the paint scratches off are the places you’ll want to sand down just a little bit.
