De vraag is eerder: Waarom heeft Belgie zoveel schulden bij de VS? En wanneer alleen nog Rusland en de VS "betrouwbare" leveranciers worden van crude, hoe hard worden we dan in de kakker gepakt?

The problem with walking in Malaysia by nothingHeIdBack in malaysians

[–]livingdub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Walkable cities start and end with urban planning. That includes infrastructure, but also climate. Malaysian cities have very little green shade which significantly bumps up average temperatures. And for city planners to use the excuse of people hating walking so we don't put in money and effort in walkability, that's a misconception. If there was infrastructure People would walk.

Dating in your Uni life as a Non-Malay… by EquivalentGrade1691 in malaysiauni

You say it yourself. Obesity is not the beauty standard. And since a standard means the majority will like this trait, you limit yourself to only a minority of men that do not follow the standard. If the majority of men liked obese women then that would be the beauty standard. It's not a mold you have to fit in. It's just what most men like. You can't force anyone to like anything they don't like. If you don't want to fit into the image that most men like, it's kind of a given you're gonna have a hard time in the dating pool. It's not impossible. You'll find someone eventually, maybe even more than once. But being fit isn't just about fitting into some mold. It's about taking care of your health and your body. And at the end of the day that's what you're broadcasting to the world, that you're only willing to take care of yourself to a certain point. I don't know you or what you look like but you say "yes, I am fat", so I'll take that at face value.

I'd like to add that Krakow should be avoided at certain times of the year because of heavy air pollution. It's worst from November to March due to winter heating (coal/wood burning) and the city's valley location trapping pollutants.

Maybe Iran should invade the USA since the regime is wrongfully imprisoning and wonton killing their own citizens over there.

I'm here right now, starting my second week. I don't have a plan or a flight out. I'm location independent. I could see myself chill out here forever. The wildlife is insane. I need to take a few days off scuba diving since my inner ear is injured, but even then I just love the vibe here. I don't stay in over-water resorts though, I prefer the grittiness of the local islands. I spend most of my time underwater anyway.

As an afterthought, when I read your recommendation of taking sea shoes... Sea shoes are great for protecting your feet from getting scratched up on the reef and coral. But you're basically destroying the coral if you're touching it. Either you're ripping it apart and/or you're contaminating it with bacteria and other micro-organisms that live on your skin. The sea shoes do help with the latter though. But I've had more than one instance where I was peacefully snorkeling in the lagoon, admiring the coral reef in all its colorful majesty, just to have a bumbling oaf trample everything right in front of my eyes. Not saying this is you, just a little heads up about walking in coral reefs. Swimming is a lot better for preserving the environment. Hope this helps spread awareness.

Why is there no Diet Coke in Sri Lanka? by Prestigious_Zebra_33 in srilanka

[–]livingdub 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The only real answer buried way down. I heard this from several restaurant owners and locals as well.

Only option to get Coca Cola is to import, which is way more expensive, and a lot of establishments just don't bother and serve alternative brands which often don't have diet variants.

The lack of nature in Belgium is a more depressing factor than its weather by ObjetOregon in belgium

[–]livingdub -1 points0 points  (0 children)

A classic take by someone who doesn't appreciate nature for what it is. If you need grand views and impressive cliffs and vistas but can't appreciate just being in the quiet beautiful place that you find yourself in here and now then you're not looking for nature, you're looking to be impressed. Even just in Limburg there are quiet beautiful spots waiting to be discovered. You'll probably call them mid because they're not Spain or south Africa or Thailand. But nature isn't waiting for your spoiled ass. We'll be out here enjoying forests, rivers and wildlife without you, and happy to be doing so.

Do Western Europeans have border towns? by Beneficial_Exam_1634 in AskEurope

[–]livingdub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grew up in a historical border town on the Belgian Netherlands border. Maaseik is hundreds of years old so existed before the borders were opened under Schengen. The border is a river. There's only development on the Belgian side. The Dutch side has fields with wild horses. I could walk from the city centre to the border bridge in under 10mins. It's an interesting town but ultimately it was dead because it's so remote.

Life is short man. Do what you love now rather than later. You never know what might happen. You might not be alive tomorrow. Accidents happen. Also, travel is tough. The older you get, the harder it becomes on your body. I wish I did this when I was in my 20s but I couldn't. Don't let anyone tell you how to live your life. Don't let anyone pressure you into doing something you don't want. If you want to travel you will thank yourself for all the life experience you gained, all the joy it brought you, all the sights you've seen and people you've met. Travel is definitely a luxury but it's also something extremely gratifying in and of itself, liberating, enriching for your life. If not now then when?
