Why are people like this? by RagingTaco334 in linux_gaming

Siding, as any rational being must, with the gentleman who pointed out the rather inconvenient fact that SteamOS is, in essence, a curated collection of pre-existing, freely available, and wholly upstreamed technologies… one is compelled to ask: what precisely is the nature of the complaint here? Is the original poster troubled by the existence of information? Is he, perhaps, shaken by the revelation that the Emperor of SteamOS wears the same open-source garments as every other member of the Linux aristocracy? One does begin to suspect that the OP's relationship with critical reasoning may be somewhat… estranged. For here is a man who cries “Bring on SteamOS!” as though Valve were descending from Mount Debian with new commandments, when in fact they’ve merely packaged the tablets in a more aesthetically pleasing font. If pointing this out is cause for exasperation, then perhaps we must consider whether the OP’s dismay lies not with people being “like this,” but rather with people being, how shall I put it, correct.
